Chapter 7 - Unmasked

"She is not a fraud," Alexander’s voice boomed across the room, carrying a terrifying, authoritative weight that silenced every single person instantly.
Alexander stood up slowly, leaning his knuckles against the table, his slate-grey eyes locking onto Victoria with a look that promised absolute destruction.
"Clara Vance is my lead logistics consultant," Alexander said coldly. "She holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University, and her operational models have saved this company twelve million dollars in wasted overhead this quarter alone."
He paused, letting the words sink in before delivering the final, crushing blow.
"And for the record... she is also my fiancée."
The silence in the boardroom was absolute. You could have heard a pin drop on the thick wool carpet. Marcus Thorne looked as though he had been hit by a freight train, while Victoria froze, her mouth slightly open, color completely draining from her face as the horrifying reality of what she had done finally set in.
"Security," Alexander commanded, his voice cold as arctic ice.
The heavy boardroom doors swung open instantly. Four armed corporate security officers marched inside, flanked by two federal agents in dark suits.
"Escort Mr. Thorne and Ms. Sterling off the premises," Alexander ordered. "And ensure all their digital and physical assets are seized pending federal indictment for wire fraud, insider trading, and corporate espionage."
Victoria started to sob, her haughty exterior shattering completely as the officers grabbed her arms and hauled her toward the exit. Marcus didn't even fight back; he just hung his head in defeat, dragging his feet as he was led out of the building he had tried to betray.
As the heavy doors clicked shut behind them, the boardroom remained frozen.

Alexander sat back down, turning his gaze toward the stunned board members. "Now. If there are no further objections to Ms. Vance’s logistics overhaul, I suggest we approve the restructuring package and move on with our day."
