Chapter 10 - The Heir Who Saved His Mother

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and gold.
I stepped out onto the wide stone porch, holding a warm mug of coffee, watching the evening stars begin to emerge one by one. The air was sweet with the scent of blooming jasmine and freshly cut grass.
Tommy walked up the porch steps, wiping his hands on a rag, looking tired and happy.
“Dinner’s ready whenever you are, Mom,” he said, leaning against the porch railing beside me.
I put my arm around his shoulders, pulling him close against my side.
“Let’s go inside, partner,” I smiled softly.
Joe had brought his mistress and secret child to that birthday party hoping to humiliate me, cast me aside, and seize total control of his fabricated empire with his mother’s blessing. He had set a trap designed to destroy my dignity, my home, and my spirit.
