Chapter 4 - The Tables Turn

By evening, the news had torn through the upper echelons of the city’s high society like wildfire.
The Bellini family empire was in freefall. Within hours of the hangar incident, banks called in their commercial loans, maritime authorities impounded two of their container ships for alleged customs irregularities, and their primary corporate partners severed all ties to distance themselves from the Romano family's wrath.
In a dimly lit private dining room of a five-star hotel downtown, Isabella sat at the head of a mahogany table, sipping a glass of sparkling mineral water. Across from her sat Don Bellini, the patriarch of the disgraced family, looking ten years older, his hands trembling as he held a porcelain teacup.
“Isabella... please,” Don Bellini whispered, his voice cracking with humiliation. “Have mercy on us. My son was a fool. He was blinded by arrogance. We are willing to hand over fifty percent of our corporate holdings to settle this debt.”
Isabella didn't touch her drink. She set the glass down with a soft, deliberate clink.
“Fifty percent?” Isabella tilted her head, a cold smile playing on her lips. “Don Bellini, when your son and his little secretary cornered me in that hangar this morning, they weren't just asking for money. They were prepared to ruin my life, throw me out on the street, and strip me of everything I owned using forged legal documents your family lawyer prepared in advance.”
Don Bellini flinched. He knew it was true. They had planned to destroy her completely.
“We misjudged you,” the old man pleaded. “Name your terms. What will it take to satisfy the Romano family?”
“Three things,” Isabella said, holding up her fingers one by one.
“First, public resignation letters from Marco and Chloe, admitting to extortion, forgery, and harassment, published in every major financial daily by tomorrow morning.”
“Second, the total liquidation of Bellini Logistics, with all remaining assets transferred to the Romano Foundation for displaced workers.”
“And third?” Don Bellini swallowed hard, bracing himself for the final blow.
May you like
“Third,” Isabella leaned forward, her hazel eyes locking onto his with terrifying clarity, “you and your family pack your bags and leave this city before sunrise. If I ever see a Bellini face within our territory again, your family name won't just be ruined—it will be erased from history.”
