For months, I had carried the silent burden of working two jobs, managing a household alone, and shielding my daughter from the subtle prejudices of an affluent, judgmental community. I had thought that keeping my head down was the safest way to survive.
I was wrong.
Standing in that school hallway, watching Vanessa try to crush my daughter’s spirit, was the moment I realized that keeping your head down only gives bullies a better angle to strike.
True strength isn't about the size of your bank account, the brand of your designer suit, or the pedigree of your family name. True strength is found in the quiet resilience of a mother’s love, the unyielding pursuit of justice, and the courage to stand up when everyone else expects you to kneel.
