Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Sky

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the Chicago skyline in brilliant shades of violet, amber, and gold.

I walked out onto the second-floor balcony, holding a warm mug of tea, taking a deep breath of the fragrant evening air. The estate was quiet, peaceful, and entirely secure.

Downstairs, I could hear Skylar laughing as she practiced her presentation for the science fair, her bright voice echoing through the halls of a home built on truth, resilience, and unshakeable strength.

My mother’s words echoed softly in my mind: “Some people build towers so they have a higher place to fall from. But a foundation built on truth will stand long after the tower is gone.”

I smiled, looking out toward the horizon where the stars were beginning to pinprink the velvet darkness of the night sky.

The feast was over. The game was won. And our future was entirely our own.
