Chapter 10 - The Unshakable House

The moon was high and bright, casting a silver glow across the quiet suburban street outside.

I walked out onto the front porch, wrapping a light jacket around my shoulders, and leaned against the wooden railing. The air was crisp, carrying the clean, earthy scent of approaching autumn.

Inside the house, everything was quiet. No whispered lies behind locked doors, no secret phone calls in the hallway, no ticking time bomb of financial ruin waiting to explode under our feet.

The house was ours again.

I looked up at the small security camera mounted near the porch eave, its tiny blue status light blinking steadily in the dark. It wasn't a symbol of surveillance or distrust anymore; it was a guardian. A silent, unblinking witness that ensured nothing would ever slip past the threshold again without being seen, recorded, and answered for.

I took a deep breath of the cool night air, smiled to myself, and walked back inside, locking the front door behind me with a solid, satisfying click.
