Chapter 5 - Reigniting the Obsidian Throne

Six months later, the North Citadel was bathed in the warm, golden light of a triumphant summer solstice.

The cold, oppressive stone halls had been transformed. Colorful banners hung from the archways, music echoed through the grand courtyards, and the laughter of a little girl with tiny, glittering horns echoed through the royal gardens as she chased a flock of magical fireflies.

In the grand throne room, a magnificent ceremony was underway. The high council stood in respectful silence as King Kaelen Vane—fully healed, his strength restored—sat upon the obsidian throne. But he wasn't sitting alone.

Standing right beside him, dressed in a breathtaking gown of emerald silk and spun gold, was Queen Lyra Vane.

The fake prophecies of doom had been publicly burned in the courtyard square months ago, replaced by a new decree written by the king himself: The strength of the dragon does not lie in isolation, but in the heart of its chosen queen.

As the royal trumpet sounded and the cheering of the unified clans echoed across the mountain peaks, Kaelen turned his head. His silver-gold eyes, no longer cold or distant, were filled with an ocean of fierce, eternal devotion as he looked down at Lyra.

"You know," Lyra whispered with a soft, teasing smile as she adjusted the heavy gold crown resting upon her dark hair, "for an immortal king, you sure needed a human to save you from yourself."

Kaelen chuckled—a rich, warm sound that made her heart skip a beat—and wrapped his strong arm around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest right in front of the entire court.

"I was a beast living in the dark, Lyra," Kaelen murmured softly, pressing his lips gently against hers as the crowd erupted into thunderous applause. "You didn't just save my daughter. You gave me back my soul."

From across the golden hall, little Amber ran toward them, laughing wildly as she leapt into her father's arms. Kaelen caught her effortlessly with one arm, keeping Lyra securely wrapped in the other. The broken love was mended, the blood ties were sealed in fire and grace, and the Dragon King’s family was finally, eternally reunited.
