Chapter 10 - The Sovereign of Philadelphia

By the autumn of that year, Dominic Caruso’s reputation had achieved mythical status throughout the East Coast.
He was no longer just a powerful businessman or a underworld figure. He was the man who had destroyed an international shipping conglomerate, cleaned out a network of corrupt politicians, and protected his family without shedding a drop of blood on his own doorstep.
That evening, a quiet dinner was held in the grand dining room of the estate.
There were no massive crowds, no fake politicians, and no judges seeking bribes. Just Dominic, Sophie, Emily, Lucy, and Dante sitting around a long oak table filled with home-cooked Italian food and laughter.
Sophie raised her glass of apple juice. “A toast to Lucy! The best detective in the world!”
Everyone clapped and clinked their glasses together. Lucy blushed, hiding her face in her mother’s side while giggling happily.
After dinner, Dominic walked out onto the high balcony overlooking the city skyline in the distance. The lights of Philadelphia shimmered like a carpet of fallen stars under the clear night sky.
Dante stepped out onto the balcony behind him, handing him an encrypted satellite phone.
“New York syndicate called, Boss,” Dante reported smoothly. “They’re asking for your approval on the new port logistics contract for next year.”

Dominic took the phone, looking out over the city he ruled—not through terror, but through absolute loyalty, vigilance, and sharp intellect.
“Tell them the terms are unchanged,” Dominic said, his voice ringing with quiet, unshakeable authority. “And tell them that if they ever send a package to Philadelphia... they better make sure it’s just a birthday present.”
