Chapter 5 - The Sovereign Silver Aesthetic

By Friday afternoon, the corporate restructuring was complete, and the media had caught wind of the seismic shift at the top of Sterling & Vance Capital.
Instead of a scandal breaking out over Victoria’s sudden resignation and exile to Europe, the financial news networks spun an entirely different narrative—one carefully crafted by my new PR team.

Articles flooded financial journals, lifestyle magazines, and tech blogs praising my striking silver hair as a bold, intentional statement of female empowerment and unflappable leadership. High-end fashion houses were already blowing up my corporate email with requests for exclusive modeling campaigns and keynote speaking engagements on resilience in the workplace.
Victoria’s petty attempt to humiliate me had backfired so completely that it had inadvertently transformed me into an icon of modern corporate dominance.
I stood in my newly appointed corner office on the fiftieth floor, wearing a tailored charcoal pantsuit, watching the afternoon sun reflect off the glass spires of Midtown. The stark, brilliant white of my hair caught the light, gleaming like polished platinum.
My assistant, a sharp young woman named Maya, stepped into the office holding a sleek tablet.
“Ms. Sterling, the quarterly shareholder meeting is set for Monday morning. All major institutional partners have confirmed attendance, and stock prices have risen 14.5% since the announcement of Victoria’s departure.”
“Good,” I said without turning around. “And what about the European accounts?”
“Fully secured, ma’am. Your stepsister’s assets have been frozen, and her legal counsel has formally accepted the terms of her non-disclosure agreement. She’s currently boarding a private flight to Zurich.”
I turned around slowly, a faint, satisfied smile touching my lips. “Let her enjoy the Alps. New York belongs to us now.”
Maya smiled admiringly. “If I may say so, ma’am... the hair was a brilliant move. Everyone in the industry is trying to copy it now.”

“Never let anyone dictate your image, Maya,” I murmured, walking back to my massive mahogany desk. “If they try to turn your weaknesses into weapons, simply sharpen them first.”
