Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

Later that evening, after the guests had departed and the grand ballroom had grown quiet, Marcus, Clara, and Sophia walked out onto the private balcony overlooking the glittering night skyline of Manhattan.
The city lights stretched out infinitely into the horizon—bright, chaotic, and vast. But for the first time in four years, there was no shadow hanging over them.
Sophia leaned against the glass railing, looking up at the stars with wide, wonder-filled eyes.
“Daddy,” she asked softly, pointing upward. “Do bad people stay bad forever?”
Marcus knelt beside her, pulling her close into the circle of his arms, with Clara kneeling beside them, holding her other hand.
“Some people choose to live in the dark, baby girl,” Marcus said gently, looking into his daughter’s bright eyes. “Because they’re afraid of the light. But as long as we have each other, we will always choose the truth.”
Sophia nodded wisely, then smiled, pulling a small, wrapped chocolate truffle out of her pocket and offering half of it to her father.

Marcus laughed—a deep, joyful sound that echoed into the cool night air—and took the bite, knowing that no matter what storms the world tried to throw at them, their family was finally, unshakeably whole.
