Chapter 8 - Secrets of the Abyss

Elena turned slowly to look at him, the intense golden glow in her eyes slowly fading back to a soft, luminous amber.

"I'm the daughter of the sea, Aiden," she said softly, walking over to the shattered window to look out at the grey expanse of Puget Sound. "When my father founded Vance Global, he didn't build it on ordinary shipping routes. He made a pact with the deep-water syndicates—the same international network that funded Victor's betrayal."

Aiden walked up beside her, his heart still pounding in his throat. "A pact? You mean a criminal cartel?"

"Worse," Elena said, her voice grim. "A cabal of global elites who control the world's maritime trade through extortion, smuggling, and blood money. They thought they could erase my family by drowning us one by one. They didn't realize that the ocean remembers everything that sinks beneath its surface."

"And the syndicate behind the syndicate?" Aiden asked, his eyes narrowing. "Who runs them?"

Elena pulled a heavy, encrypted gold flash drive from the pocket of her coat—a drive she had pulled from Logan's tactical vest while he was unconscious in the hallway.

"The man who signed the execution order for my parents twenty years ago," Elena said, plugging the drive into the auxiliary port of the remaining unbroken terminal on the desk. "Arthur Sterling."

Aiden’s breath hitched. "Arthur Sterling? The billionaire philanthropist? The chairman of the Global Energy Council?"

"The very same," Elena nodded, watching as the encrypted files decrypted automatically on the screen, revealing a sprawling web of offshore bank accounts, illegal arms shipments, and covert assassinations spanning three continents. "He thought I was just a naive girl playing corporate politics. Now, he's about to find out what happens when the tide comes in."
