Chapter 7 - The Empire’s True Foundation

The boardroom grew dead silent. The remaining board members sat frozen, looking at Julian with a mixture of profound awe and absolute terror.

Julian stood up slowly. He buttoned his jacket, adjusted his cuffs, and looked around the table.

“The meeting is adjourned,” Julian said flatly.

He didn't wait for a response. He turned on his heel and walked out of the boardroom, heading straight down the private executive corridor toward his personal office suite.

When he stepped inside, Marcus was already waiting by the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a steaming cup of black coffee and a fresh tablet report.

“Federal marshals just took Arthur into custody at the ground-floor lobby,” Marcus reported briskly. “All asset freezes have been lifted, and our stock has already rebounded 8.2% in pre-market trading.”

“Good,” Julian said quietly, walking over to the window and looking out over the bustling streets of London.

“Boss... if I may ask,” Marcus hesitated, lowering his tablet. “With everything happening—the board coup, the federal investigation, the billions on the line—why did you fly to Paris for six hours just to visit an old street vendor in the middle of the night?”

Julian turned around slowly. A faint, genuine smile—one that didn't carry the cold armor of the corporate world—touched his lips.

“Because, Marcus,” Julian said softly, walking over to his desk and picking up a small, weathered wooden postcard holder he had kept framed on his shelf for a decade. “When you build an empire on sand, the first storm washes it away. But when your foundation is built on human kindness—on a single bowl of hot soup given by a stranger when you had nothing—no amount of corporate warfare can ever tear it down.”
