Chapter 1 - The Blood-Stained Parchment and the Rabbit-Clan Heiress

The biting wind howled across the frozen peaks of the Northern Divide, rattling the frosted windowpanes of the Warrenhold Estate. Inside the dimly lit study, Rourke stood in silence, staring down at the yellowed piece of parchment resting on the polished mahogany desk. He had spent his entire life as a nameless orphan in the outer slums, surviving on scraps, fists, and pure animal grit. He had never known his parents, never felt the warmth of a pack home, and never owned anything of value—until today.
The parchment in front of him was an ancient marriage pact, sealed in dried wolf’s blood and stamped with the royal crest of the Whitemoon Alpha King. According to the document, he was bound to Lyra Warrenhold, the sole heiress of the powerful Rabbit-Clan, a fragile prey faction currently fighting for its life in a ruthless succession war.
The heavy oak door swung open, and Lyra stepped into the room. She was breathtaking, with silver-blonde hair cascading over her shoulders and striking, wide amber eyes that betrayed a deep, trembling terror. But beneath her vulnerability lay a fierce, desperate pride.
"So," Lyra said, her voice shaking slightly as she crossed her arms to steady herself. "You're the orphan from the slums my late father traded a blood pact with. They say you have nothing to your name. Why should I trust you to protect my clan from the predator lords circling our borders?"
Rourke slowly lifted his gaze, his eyes flashing with a sudden, feral intensity that made Lyra instinctively step back. "Your father didn't make a mistake, Lyra. He knew exactly what he was doing. And as for protection—consider this: anyone who touches your clan answers to me."

Before Lyra could respond, a shattering crash echoed from the courtyard below. Shouts and the sound of breaking glass tore through the night. The ruthless Shadow-Fang wolves—the apex predators who had slaughtered rival packs for decades—had breached the outer gates. The succession war had begun, and Rourke was standing right in the eye of the storm.
