Chapter 10 - The Unshakable Sky


The jet touched down smoothly on the private tarmac in Chicago just as the evening sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of violet and gold.
As I walked down the metal stairs of the aircraft, the cool autumn wind caught my hair.
There were no cameras waiting. No cheating husbands. No stolen boarding passes or fake emergencies.
There was only the quiet, steady hum of the airfield, the blinking red lights of the terminal towers, and the vast, open sky stretching out endlessly before me.
