Chapter 1 - The Wait at the Window and the Iron Gate**

The golden iron gates of the grand estate loomed heavily against the darkening afternoon sky, but inside the mansion's lavish living room, little Lily kept her small palms pressed flat against the cold glass of the bay window [cite:]. All afternoon, she had watched the winding driveway, waiting for her father’s signature black car to appear beyond the gates [cite:]. Every few minutes, she turned her head to whisper comforting words to her crying baby brother, Noah, who clutched her dress in absolute terror [cite:].

“Daddy will be home soon,” Lily murmured softly, her voice trembling as she tried to be brave for both of them [cite:].

Their stepmother, Victoria, stood just a few feet away, her face twisted in a cruel, impatient scowl. She had spent the entire day cultivating an image of a doting, perfect mother to high-society outsiders, but behind closed doors, her true nature was a nightmare of malice and greed. She believed the children were too frightened to speak a word of her abuse to anyone [cite:]. She also believed she had successfully disabled the mansion’s security cameras before beginning her daily cruelty [cite:].

She was wrong about both [cite:].

Without warning, Victoria strode across the plush carpet, grabbed Lily roughly by her arm, and dragged her toward the heavy rear exit leading to the estate's sprawling back lawn, dragging baby Noah along behind them [cite:].

“Quiet, both of you!” Victoria hissed, her voice sharp as glass. “Your father is late, and I am sick of your crying! You want to play outside? Then play where you belong!”

She yanked open the back door, thrusting the terrified children out into the cold wind, directly toward a massive, reinforced steel doghouse built for the estate’s guard dogs. Before Lily could scream, Victoria shoved both children inside the cramped, dark enclosure and slammed the heavy metal latch shut, locking it securely from the outside. Victoria smiled wickedly, thinking her secrets were safe, completely unaware that the billionaire father was just pulling his black car up the driveway, and every single second of her wickedness was being recorded in crystal-clear high definition by the hidden security system she failed to turn off [cite:].
