Chapter 4 - The Envelope at the Altar**

The atmosphere in the chapel froze instantly. Guests turned in their pews, murmuring in confusion and shock as Rachel marched down the center aisle, her heels clicking sharply against the stone floor. She had bypassed the estate security guards, sneaking back into the venue through the garden terrace, driven by a desperate, unhinged need to destroy me completely.

Julian’s brow furrowed in deep anger as he stepped protectively in front of me, his jaw tightening. “Rachel, what the hell are you doing here? Security escorted you off the premises!”

Rachel ignored him entirely, her eyes locked on me with a manic, glittering triumph. She raised the manila envelope high in the air.

“You thought a little slap and a voicemail recording would get rid of me?” Rachel laughed, her voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings of the chapel. “You think you won, don't you? You think you’re walking away with the perfect husband, the perfect life, and the perfect family fortune while I take the fall!”

“Leave right now, Rachel, or I will have you arrested for trespassing and harassment,” Julian warned, his voice dropping into a lethal, commanding register that made several guests shrink back in their seats.

“Oh, Julian, honey, you’ll want to see what’s inside this envelope before you finish saying ‘I do’,” Rachel sneered, pulling a thick stack of glossy photographs and printed documents from the folder. “Your precious bride hasn't been entirely honest with you. She didn't just marry you for love—she signed a pre-wedding financial acquisition agreement with my uncle’s firm to strip-mine your family assets the second the ink dried on the marriage certificate!”

Gasps erupted across the pews. My mother pressed her hands to her face in utter disbelief, while several family members stood up in alarm.

I looked at the papers she was waving around, and a cold, chilling realization washed over me. Those documents weren't real. They were sophisticated, high-level forgeries designed to look like corporate legal filings, complete with notarized stamps and forged signatures. She was executing a scorched-earth propaganda campaign to publicly humiliate me and shatter Julian’s trust at the absolute altar.

Julian looked down at me, the silence stretching between us like a chasm. For one terrifying second, doubt flickered in his dark eyes.

Rachel smiled wider, thinking her final, venomous trap had finally sprung shut.
