Chapter 2 - The Voicemail That Exposed the Trap**

Emma whipped her phone out in a flash, the camera light blinking red as she shoved it straight toward Rachel’s face. The sudden exposure panicked Rachel completely. Her hands flew up to block the lens, her composure shattering into a million jagged pieces.
“Stop it! Turn that off!” Rachel shrieked, backing away until her spine hit the heavy oak door. “It was an accident! I tripped! You’re all crazy, it was just a clumsy mistake!”
“A mistake?” I stepped forward, towering over her despite my torn gown, my eyes blazing with cold fire. “You think I don't know what you've been planning, Rachel? You thought you could destroy my wedding dress and ruin my big day while everyone was distracted. But you forgot one very important thing.”
Rachel swallowed hard, her throat bobbing nervously. “W-what are you talking about?”
I pulled my own smartphone from the hidden pocket of my petticoat, tapped the screen twice, and hit the speaker button at maximum volume.
The room fell dead silent. Then, Rachel’s unmistakable voice filled the bridal suite, broadcasting clearly from the phone speaker:
*“...and I’m telling you, once I tear that stupid dress right before the ceremony, she’ll be too humiliated to walk out there. Julian will never marry a laughingstock, and the whole wedding will be a total disaster. Just watch me!”*
The voicemail played on loop for a second before I paused it. The silence in the room was deafening. My mother gasped, pressing a hand to her mouth. The bridesmaids stared at Rachel with looks of absolute disgust and betrayal. The proof was absolute, irrefutable, and damning.
“Everyone heard it,” I said quietly, stepping right up to her face. “Everyone knows exactly what kind of venomous snake you really are. Now, security is waiting downstairs. But before they escort you out in disgrace, you are going to watch me fix my dress.”

I turned away from her, grabbed a pair of sharp tailoring scissors from the vanity table, and with a series of quick, deliberate snips, I began cutting away the torn back panel, transforming the ruined gown into a fierce, modern high-low silhouette that looked even more stunning and couture than the original design. Without a backward glance at a sobbing, defeated Rachel, I walked out of the suite ready to take my life back.
