Chapter 2 - The Web of Stolen Bloodlines**

The heavy oak doors of Mark’s private executive study clicked shut, sealing out the echoes of the terrifying confrontation in the foyer. Inside the wood-paneled room, the air was dense with unsaid truths and decades of buried deceit. Sarah sat rigidly on the edge of the leather sofa, her eyes fixed on Mark, who stood by the window staring out into the manicured gardens where federal agents and private security had already begun sweeping the perimeter.

"Explain it to me, Mark," Sarah said, her voice trembling slightly, though laced with an unyielding steel. "Who is Elena, and what was she screaming about regarding family money?"

Mark turned slowly away from the window, running a tired hand through his dark hair. The untouchable, flawless image he projected to the business world had completely fractured. "Elena is the granddaughter of Victor Vance—my former business partner from over a decade ago. Before I built Miller Global, Victor and I had a joint venture. When Victor passed away under... complicated circumstances, his family believed I embezzled the initial startup capital that founded our current empire."

"And did you?" Sarah asked directly, her breath catching in her throat as she waited for the answer that could destroy everything they had built.

"No," Mark said firmly, walking over and kneeling down in front of her, taking her cold hands in his. "The capital was legally acquired through a high-risk venture contract we both signed. But Victor’s family lost everything due to bad investments afterward, and Elena has spent the last five years chasing a ghost, convinced that our wealth belongs to her."

"She wasn't just chasing ghosts today, Mark," Sarah whispered, a shudder running down her spine as she remembered the manic look in Elena’s eyes. "She threatened our children. She bypassed our biometric security system. That means someone inside this estate helped her get past the gates."

Mark’s expression darkened into something lethal. "I know. And we are going to find out who."

He stood up, walking over to his mahogany desk, and tapped the intercom button. "Marcus, pull the interior security logs from the past forty-eight hours. I want every access code cross-referenced immediately."

Within minutes, the digital screens on the wall flickered to life, revealing a trail of digital corruption that led straight to the heart of the household staff—and deeper into the corporate boardrooms where Mark’s enemies were waiting to strike.
