Chapter 1 - The Broken Mirror of the White Tile Foyer**

The afternoon sun filtered lazily through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the Miller estate, casting long, geometric shadows across the polished white marble tile of the foyer. But inside the grand household, the atmosphere was thick with sudden, suffocating panic. Sarah Miller stood frozen with her back against the curved staircase, her chest heaving as she clutched a stack of confidential financial portfolios to her chest like a shield. Standing just a few feet away, her eyes wild with desperate fury, was Elena, a ghost from Mark's past who had slipped through the security gates under false pretenses.
"Put down those papers right now!" Elena shrieked, taking a sharp step forward, her manicured fingers curling into tight fists.
Sarah’s heart hammered frantically against her ribs, her mind racing back to the safety of her upstairs nursery where her two young children were playing. "You do not know what you are dealing with, Sarah," Elena hissed, her voice dripping with venom and a twisted sense of entitlement.
Sarah took a slow step backward on the polished white tile, her heels clicking softly against the stone. "Leave my kids alone!" she demanded, her maternal instincts surging past her fear.
Elena laughed—a harsh, unhinged sound that echoed against the vaulted ceilings. "This money belonged to my family first! Mark built this entire empire on stolen capital, and you are living a lie wrapped in silk!"
"Get out of my house before I call the police!" Sarah shouted, her hand trembling as she reached for the smart-home intercom panel on the wall.
Before Elena could lunge forward, the heavy oak front doors swung open with a resounding thud. Mark strode into the foyer, his briefcase still clutched in his hand, his eyes instantly locking onto the volatile scene unfolding before him.
"What is going on in here right now?" Mark’s voice cut through the air like a cold steel blade.
Elena spun around, pointing an accusing finger directly at him. "Your whole marriage is built on a lie, Mark! Tell her the truth about where your fortune came from!"
Mark stepped firmly between the two women, his eyes cold, dead, and utterly terrifying. He didn't look like a corporate executive; he looked like a predator defending his territory. "Get away from my family!"

Sarah clutched the papers tighter, tears of shock blurring her vision as she looked at her husband. "Mark... if anything happened to my kids, I would never forgive myself!"
