Chapter 3 - The Corporate Guillotine**

Three days after the rescue, resting securely in a high-security federal medical suite in downtown Denver, my attorney Jonathan Sterling walked into my room carrying a stack of legal portfolios thick enough to stop a bullet.
“Good morning, Genevieve. Glad to see you looking like a survivor,” Jonathan greeted me warmly, pulling up a chair beside my bed.
“Morning, Jonathan. Let’s talk about my husband,” I replied, my tone razor-sharp.
Jonathan chuckled softly, flipping open the top leather binder. “Your soon-to-be-ex-husband is currently sitting in a maximum-security federal holding facility, realizing that marrying into wealth doesn't make you wealthy if the wealth can be legally retracted overnight.”
Jonathan laid out the corporate transcripts and financial ledgers across the over-bed table.
“When Julian founded Vance Technologies ten years ago, he told everyone he was a self-made tech prodigy,” Jonathan explained. “What the public never knew—and what federal prosecutors have now confirmed through your encrypted banking logs—is that every single round of seed funding, every server purchase, and every crucial patent acquisition was directly financed using pre-marital trust funds registered solely under your name, Genevieve.”
I traced my finger across the original seed investment agreements bearing my signature. “He always claimed those investors were venture capitalists who believed in his vision.”
“There were no venture capitalists,” Jonathan corrected sharply. “It was your mother’s family trust funneling capital through offshore holding companies to give him a start. Furthermore, over the last six months, while he was carrying on his affair with Victoria Hayes, Julian systematically forged your digital signature to siphon an additional three point five million dollars of company development funds into personal shell accounts controlled by Victoria.”
Grand larceny. Wire fraud. Forgery. Conspiracy.
“Can we freeze everything?” I asked.
“We already have,” Jonathan smiled triumphantly. “At 6:00 AM this morning, federal civil asset forfeiture officers executed emergency injunctions on Vance Technologies. The board of directors has been stripped of their voting shares, Julian has been legally ousted as CEO, and the company has been placed under the direct receivership of your father’s holding trust. Julian doesn't just have a failing business anymore—he is legally, entirely bankrupt.”
It was poetic justice. Julian had tried to drown me in the ocean to steal my money and dispose of me like trash. Now, he was going to stand trial for attempted murder with zero financial resources, facing a mandatory prison sentence that would span decades.

“Set up the shareholder meeting for Friday morning,” I instructed quietly. “I want to be there to watch him lose everything he ever cared about.”
