Chapter 1 - The Ocean Hell and the Admiral’s Wrath**

The salt water slammed into my face like a wall of shattered glass, tearing the breath straight from my lungs as the speeding jet ski jerked violently over the white-capped ocean swells. My wrists were tightly bound to the handlebars with heavy-duty nylon straps, and a secondary harness pinned my heavily pregnant body directly against the machine. Ahead of me, cutting through the churning waves with calculated cruelty, was Victoria Hayes on a second jet ski, towing me into the freezing open waters.

Far away on the luxury resort dock in Cabo San Lucas, a tiny silhouette stood holding a crystal glass of scotch. Julian Vance, my husband of ten years, was watching the whole execution through high-powered binoculars. He didn’t care that I was nine months pregnant. He didn't care that those pills he had forced me to swallow under the guise of "prenatal vitamins" had left my limbs feeling like lead, clouding my mind in a heavy, drugged haze. All he cared about was getting rid of me so he could inherit my wealth, marry his mistress, and wipe my existence off the map.

Victoria looked back over her shoulder, her manicured fingers gripping the throttle. A twisted, triumphant smile crossed her face.

“Hold on tighter, honey!” she screamed over the deafening roar of the engines.

Another massive wave crashed beneath us, throwing my body forward. A white-hot bolt of agony ripped through my lower abdomen as my swollen stomach slammed brutally against the fiberglass hull. I opened my mouth to scream, but a mouthful of choking brine rushed in instead.

“I’m pregnant! Please stop!” I sobbed into the wind, my voice breaking instantly.

Victoria only threw her head back and laughed, a mocking sound that vanished into the ocean breeze.

Then, a sickening, terrifying sensation washed down my legs. Warm liquid mixed with the freezing ocean water, soaking my clothes. Blood. Deep, crimson blood spreading across the seat beneath me. Labour had been forcefully triggered by the drugs and trauma, and my baby was in mortal danger.

With vision blurring and my fingers trembling uncontrollably, I forced my hand upward against the nylon bonds, sliding my thumb down the face of my watch. It wasn't just a designer timepiece; it was a custom tactical military communicator wired directly into the global defense network.

I pressed the emergency beacon three times.

“Dad...” I choked out, a raw sob tearing from my throat.

Instantly, the secure audio channel crackled to life, bypassing the static of the open sea. A voice that had commanded elite military operations across the globe echoed in my ear—hard, instantaneous, and terrifyingly sharp.

“Genevieve? Status report! What happened?”

My father. Admiral Hector Sterling.

“They’re... they’re trying to kill us,” I whispered, my consciousness fading as darkness clawed at the edges of my mind. “The baby... Dad, save my baby.”

There was a dead, chilling silence on the line for less than a second. Then, my father’s voice dropped into a register of pure, lethal fury.

“Hold on, sweetheart. The cavalry has arrived.”

Before the sentence even finished echoing, the sky above Cabo exploded with a deafening, thunderous roar. Two massive military-grade rescue helicopters dropped out of the clouds, their rotor wash instantly whipping the ocean into a frenzy of white spray. Simultaneously, three heavily armed United States Coast Guard cutter vessels emerged from behind the cove, cutting off all escape routes.

Blinding searchlights flooded the water, locking directly onto Victoria’s jet ski.

Victoria froze. Her smug smile vanished in an instant as a deep, booming voice echoed across the bay from a military loudspeaker.
