Chapter 5 - The Sunrise Sanctuary**

Two weeks later, the storm had completely cleared, leaving behind the crisp, refreshing air of a brand-new beginning.
The master suite had been entirely remodeled—every trace of that horrific night scrubbed, repainted, and replaced with bright, soothing tones of cream and pale blue. The nursery next door was now fully completed, bathed in the warm, golden sunlight of a crisp autumn morning.
Alora sat propped up against a mountain of plush pillows in our freshly renovated bed, a soft, radiant smile gracing her face as she cradled her slightly more pronounced baby bump with both hands. The dark circles under her eyes were gone, replaced by the natural, healthy glow of an expectant mother who finally felt completely, unconditionally safe.
I walked into the room carrying a silver breakfast tray piled high with her favorite morning treats—warm lemon scones, fresh berries, and a steaming cup of decaf chamomile tea.
“Special delivery for the two most important people in the world,” I announced softly, setting the tray across her lap.
Alora laughed—a light, musical sound that healed places in my soul I hadn't even realized were broken. She reached out, pulling me down onto the edge of the mattress, and rested her head gently against my shoulder.
“You know, every time I look at this room, I still remember how terrifying that night was,” she whispered, her fingers intertwining with mine. “But then I remember the look on your face when you walked through that door. You saved us, Thane. Both of us.”
“I told you I’d protect you with my life,” I replied, wrapping my arms securely around her and kissing the top of her head. “Nothing will ever hurt you again. The people who tried to destroy us are entirely gone from our world.”
She looked up at me, her eyes shining with unshed tears of profound gratitude and peace. “What happens now?”
May you like
“Now, we focus entirely on our future,” I smiled, placing my hand gently over her warm belly just as a tiny, unmistakable kick thumped softly against my palm. “Just you, me, and our little girl. The rest of the world can burn.”
Outside our window, the sun broke fully through the horizon, casting a brilliant, golden light across the expansive ocean view. The shadows were entirely gone. Our fortress was secure, our family was whole, and our happily ever after had finally begun.
