Chapter 4 - The Legal Guillotine**

By sunrise, the house had been thoroughly processed by crime scene investigators, and Alora was resting peacefully in a VIP suite at the city's premier maternity hospital, surrounded by private security and attended by the finest specialists money could buy. Our unborn baby was healthy, safe, and entirely unharmed—the single most important victory in this entire brutal war.

I sat in a high-backed leather chair in my temporary office suite, staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the morning traffic humming far below.

My phone buzzed relentlessly. It was my mother’s court-appointed defense attorney, followed by a series of desperate, frantic voicemails from Corrine herself, left from the precinct holding phones. Her tone had completely shifted from venomous entitlement to whimpering, pathetic pleading.

*“Thane, please... you have to drop the charges! We’re your family! Your own flesh and blood! How could you do this to your mother? Sloan is having panic attacks! Please come down here and fix this!”*

I deleted the voicemail without listening to the second half, blocking her number permanently along with Sloan’s.

At 9:00 AM sharp, the doors to my corporate legal headquarters swung open, and Marcus Vance—the most ruthless, high-priced senior litigator in the tristate area—stepped into my office carrying a thick leather briefcase.

“I received your encrypted file at 3:00 AM, Thane,” Marcus said without preamble, taking a seat across from me and placing a stack of freshly printed documents on the mahogany desk. “I’ve already reviewed the 4K footage. It is, without hyperbole, the most damning piece of domestic evidence I have ever seen in my thirty-year career. They didn't leave themselves a single legal loophole.”

“I want maximum sentencing, Marcus,” I said, my voice cold and devoid of any lingering hesitation. “I want every civil protection order enacted immediately. I want their monthly stipends terminated retroactively. And I want every single asset, vehicle, and property I ever purchased for them seized back into my corporate holdings under asset forfeiture laws relating to criminal enterprise.”

Marcus offered a thin, predatory smile. “Consider it done, boss. By noon, the district attorney’s office will officially upgrade their charges to include premeditated financial conspiracy and elder/dependent abuse given Alora’s pregnancy. They aren't just going to prison; they are going away for a very long time, and they won't have a penny left to their names when they get out.”

I nodded slowly, sliding the documents across the desk and signing my name with a heavy, deliberate stroke of my Montblanc pen. The legal guillotine had fallen. The bloodline parasites who had fed off my success while plotting our destruction were finally severed from our lives forever.
