Chapter 4 - The House of Cards Collapses**

The panic inside the Franklin estate reached apocalyptic proportions.

Brandon, still wearing his arm sling from the bathroom incident, stumbled into the foyer, his eyes wide with sheer terror as he watched his father being pushed backward against the hallway wall by the deputies.

“Mom! What is happening?!” Brandon screamed, panicking as he grabbed Beatrice’s arm.

Beatrice was shaking uncontrollably, her face twisted in absolute hysteria as she stared at the federal marshals walking past her into the living room to seize corporate ledgers, computers, and financial records.

“It’s that wretched girl!” Beatrice shrieked, pointing a trembling finger toward the driveway where my car had just pulled up alongside my father’s pickup truck. “She did this! She destroyed us!”

I stepped out of my car, wearing a sharp navy blue blazer and sunglasses, walking calmly up the stone steps of the estate. I didn't look like the subservient, frightened new bride they thought they had trapped in their traditionalist web. I looked like a woman who had reclaimed her power.

I stopped at the open front door, gazing coldly at Brandon, who stood pale and trembling in the hallway.

“Clara... please,” Brandon whimpered, his voice cracking with pathetic desperation as he took a tentative step toward me. “Call your lawyers off! It was a misunderstanding! Mom and Dad went too far, but we’re husband and wife! We can fix this!”

I pulled the annulment papers out of my leather portfolio and tossed them directly onto the foyer floor, letting them slide across the marble tiles until they hit his shoes.

“We were never a real husband and wife, Brandon,” I said steadily, my voice echoing clearly through the grand foyer. “You thought marriage meant owning me. You thought tradition meant silencing me. You and your parents tried to steal my family’s home, frame my father, and break my spirit. You didn't realize that my father taught me how to defend myself—not just physically on a gym mat, but legally, financially, and morally.”

“You can’t leave me!” Brandon sobbed, dropping to his knees as the reality of his prison sentence and total financial ruin closed in around him. “I have nothing left! The house is being seized! The bank accounts are frozen!”

“That sounds like a traditional consequence,” I replied coldly, turning my back on him.

Marcus placed a gentle hand on my shoulder, guiding me back down the steps toward the sunlight.
