Chapter 5 - The Skyline Belongs to the Queen

Six months later, the sun was shining brilliantly over Manhattan, casting a golden glow across the newly completed Aegis Tower—a breathtaking seventy-story architectural masterpiece that now dominated the Hudson River skyline.

The grand opening gala was broadcast live across national news networks. Architects, civic leaders, billionaire investors, and society elites filled the glass-walled lobby, raising crystal flutes of champagne to toast the brilliance of the firm's founder.

Standing on the private VIP balcony on the seventieth floor, Elena looked out over the city she had once been cast out of.

She wore a stunning emerald-green silk gown that matched the massive ring sparkling on her finger.

The door behind her opened softly, and Dante stepped out onto the balcony, handing her a glass of sparkling cider. He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder.

"They're talking about making you the principal designer for the new metropolitan transit hub," Dante murmured, smiling against her neck.

"Let them talk," Elena smiled, leaning back against his chest. "I'm just getting started."

Down below, on the crowded sidewalk across the street, a disheveled man in a faded jacket stood staring up at the gleaming glass tower. Julian Vance—returned illegally and broken beyond repair—watched the digital billboard flash Elena Moretti’s name across the screen in brilliant white lights.

He realized then the terrifying truth: she hadn't just survived their betrayal. She had used their fire to forge an empire.

And as Dante pulled Elena closer, kissing her temple beneath the Manhattan sun, Elena knew that the ghosts of her past were finally buried deep beneath the foundations of a kingdom built to last forever.
