Chapter 5 - A New Dawn at Ashcombe Manor**

Six months later, the grounds of Ashcombe Manor were alive with the brilliant, vibrant warmth of late summer. The towering iron gates, once a symbol of cold isolation, were flanked by blooming white roses and cheerful marigolds.
On a bright Saturday afternoon, the sprawling back lawn was filled with colorful balloons, a towering chocolate cake, and the bright, uninhibited cheers of children. It was Ruby’s seventh birthday party—her very first real birthday celebration surrounded by school friends, kind neighbors, and a father who adored her beyond measure.
Ruby ran across the green grass, wearing a bright yellow sundress that matched the flowers in the garden, her hair bouncing freely in the gentle breeze as she chased her puppy across the lawn, running with a steady, completely healed stride without a single trace of a limp.
I stood near the edge of the stone patio, holding a tray of fresh refreshments, watching Salvatore walk across the lawn hand-in-hand with his daughter as they laughed together under the warm sun. The dark nightmare of the gala was nothing more than a faded shadow, a harsh lesson learned in vigilance and the uncompromising defense of those you love.
Salvatore caught my eye across the lawn, excused himself for a moment, and walked over to my side, his expression relaxed, peaceful, and deeply grateful.
“You know, Owen,” Salvatore murmured quietly, resting his hand on the polished wooden railing. “If you hadn't insisted on upgrading the ballroom security loops last month... I might never have known the truth.”

I smiled, handing him a glass of fresh lemonade. “Sometimes, a crisis doesn't break a family, Mr. Kessler. It just clears out the trash so the real foundation can grow.”
Salvatore nodded, looking back out across the lawn where Ruby was now hugging her father tightly under the golden afternoon light. The wicked socialite had tried to break a little girl with cruelty, but in doing so, she had accidentally forged an unbreakable bond between a billionaire father and his daughter—a bond that no amount of malice could ever break again.
