Chapter 4 - The Massive Debt Unveiled**

As the police officers handcuffed Richard and forced him against the wall while reading him his Miranda rights, Ethan panicked, looking wildly around the room.

“You can't do this! Dad’s business is too big, we have powerful connections, you can't touch us!” Ethan yelled as the second officer snapped cuffs around his wrists.

Stephen adjusted his suit jacket, pulling a thick manila folder from his briefcase. He opened it and pulled out a stack of heavily stamped financial documents, tax liens, and bankruptcy notices.

“Your father’s business empire hasn't existed in the black for over four years, Ethan,” Stephen stated clearly, his voice cutting through their frantic protests. “Richard has been operating a massive Ponzi-style shell game, using high-interest commercial loans, forged collateral signatures, and fraudulent lines of credit to keep his failing construction supply company afloat. And guess whose name he used as the primary guarantor on three hundred and fifty thousand dollars of unsecured commercial debt?”

Richard stopped struggling against the wall. His eyes bulged in absolute terror. He stared at Stephen, panting heavily. “How... how do you know about that?”

“David wasn't just a logistics director,” Stephen explained, looking directly at Richard with cold satisfaction. “Before he married Audrey, he spent a decade working as a senior corporate forensic auditor for major financial institutions. Six months ago, while helping Audrey review some tax forms, David uncovered your father’s entire illegal financial paper trail. He realized that Richard had secretly forged Audrey’s signature on multiple loan guarantees, intending to dump half a million dollars of corporate debt onto her shoulders the moment his company collapsed.”

Teresa staggered backward, colliding with the sofa. “That... that’s impossible. Richard said the business was fine!”

“The business was bankrupt three years ago,” Stephen continued, pulling out another document. “In fact, federal bankruptcy investigators and commercial creditors have been circling your family for months. Because you drove out here on Tuesday, assaulted Audrey, and committed a high-profile felony on camera, the police subpoenaed your primary corporate server immediately. Combined with David’s pre-compiled audit dossier that Audrey formally filed this morning, the federal prosecutor has already issued an emergency asset seizure warrant.”

Stephen looked across the room at Karla, who was trembling violently in the corner, clutching her phone. “That means every single asset your family owns—your home, your vehicles, your bank accounts, your business inventory, and every personal luxury item you bought with embezzled funds—is now frozen under federal receivership to pay off Richard’s massive debts. You are all legally, completely bankrupt.”
