Chapter 3 - The Breach of the Hospital**

The double doors at the main entrance of the ICU wing blew open with a violent crash.
The hospital staff scattered in sheer terror as a dozen heavily armed federal marshals and military police operatives flooded the corridor, their assault rifles held at low-ready, moving with terrifying, flawless tactical precision. They didn't shout. They didn't hesitate. They operated like an apex predator locking onto a wounded animal.
The lead officer—a towering, scarred Master Sergeant with silver-streaked hair and cold blue eyes—marched straight down the center of the hallway. He ignored the nurses pressed against the walls, ignored the medical equipment, and ignored the petrified Vance brothers entirely.
He stopped directly in front of me.
Slowly, deliberately, the Master Sergeant brought his right hand up and snapped a razor-sharp, immaculate military salute.
“Commander Vance,” the Sergeant’s voice boomed across the sterile corridor, carrying absolute, unquestioned subordination. “Delta Extraction and Special Operations Unit reporting as ordered, Sir. Perimeter is fully secured. Air support is hovering overhead. Awaiting your direct commands.”
The entire hallway went dead.
Marcus looked as though he was going to vomit. Donald Vance grabbed onto the wall for physical support, his knees buckling slightly under the sudden weight of pure, unadulterated terror.
“C-Commander?” Donald whispered, his voice cracking horribly. “What... what is he talking about? You’re... you’re just an infantry sergeant! You work supply lines!”
I didn't look at Donald. I kept my eyes locked forward, returning the Sergeant’s salute with crisp precision before dropping my hand.
“That was another Pentagon cover story required for deep-cover counter-intelligence deployment, Donald,” I replied coldly. “For the last eight years, while you and your sons were running local protection rackets and beating women behind closed doors, I was leading classified tactical intelligence operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Every piece of land you own, every commercial permit you hold, and every dollar in your family’s offshore accounts exists entirely at the pleasure of federal oversight. And right now... that pleasure has been revoked.”
“You can’t do this!” Zach screamed, lunging forward with a burst of frantic, unhinged rage. “You’re abusing your authority! We’re American citizens! You can’t just use the military to—!”
Before Zach could take another step, two federal operatives moved faster than humanly possible. They tackled him to the floor, slamming his face against the linoleum tile and slapping heavy steel zip-ties around his wrists with ruthless efficiency.
“Interfering with a federal national security operation is a Class-A felony under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and federal statute,” the Master Sergeant barked down at Zach, pressing a combat boot firmly between his shoulder blades. “Stay down, civilian.”
Marcus, Brent, and the rest of the brothers stood paralyzed, paralyzed by the realization that fighting back meant treason, and submission meant total destruction.
I turned my back on them, walking slowly toward the glass door of Tessa’s ICU room.
“Sergeant,” I called out without looking back.
“Sir!”
“Detain Donald Vance and all eight of his sons for immediate interrogation under federal terrorism and domestic conspiracy statutes. Seize every digital device, every ledger, and every communication record they own. Leave nothing behind.”
“Understood, Commander! Team one, take them into custody! Move, move, move!”

As the chaotic sounds of shouting, struggling, and heavy zip-ties filled the hallway behind me, I pushed open the door to Tessa’s room and stepped inside, leaving the corrupt, trembling cowards to face the absolute wrath of the empire they had dared to provoke.
