Chapter 5 - The New Beginning**

Three months later, the spring sun shone brilliantly over Boston Harbor, casting warm golden light through the expansive bay windows of our newly renovated home in Back Bay. The shadow of the Beacon Hill safe house and the corporate war with Arthur Vance were nothing more than distant memories; federal indictments had permanently neutralized Vance’s syndicate, and Serena Cross was awaiting trial in a maximum-security federal detention facility.

"You're standing too much," Luca murmured against my skin, his voice rich with a deep, permanent peace he hadn't known when we were torn apart. "Doctor’s orders were absolute bed rest today."
"I'm fine, Luca," I smiled, turning in his arms to face him. He looked lighter, free of the cold, defensive armor he had worn for decades. The platinum wedding ring he had slipped back onto my finger a month ago gleamed brightly under the morning light.
"You saved us," Luca whispered, resting his hand gently over mine. "All of us. I was blind, and you walked right into the fire to bring our family back together."

"That's what mothers do," I smiled, leaning my head against his shoulder as we watched our children laugh together across the room.
The nightmare was over. The deceit had been burned away. And as I looked at the bright, beautiful future stretching out before us, I knew that no force on earth could ever break the foundation we had rebuilt together.
