Chapter 4 - The Tables Turn**

Heavy footsteps thundered up the staircase from the ground floor as two of Luca’s private security guards rounded the corner, their hands instantly dropping to their tactical holsters.

"Hold your positions," a deep, gravelly voice commanded from inside the study.

Luca stepped through the doorway.

His tailored dress shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, his hair slightly disheveled, and his face carved from cold, ruthless granite. He looked at Serena, then at Sophia, who was trembling against the wall, and finally at me—standing in the hallway at eight months pregnant, wet from the rain, holding a thick manila folder against my chest.

"Isabelle," Luca said, his voice dangerously low. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I'm here because your brilliant, psychiatric consultant forgot to lock her offshore digital footprint," I said, stepping past the frozen security guards and walking straight into the study, refusing to show a single ounce of fear.

Serena’s face lost its color. She rushed forward, her composure cracking for the first time. "Luca, don't listen to her! She’s experiencing a severe psychotic break! She’s trespassing, she’s violating the restraining order—remove her from this house immediately!"

"Shut up, Serena," Luca snapped without looking at her, his dark eyes fixed entirely on me. "Let her speak."

I dropped the manila folder onto his mahogany desk, flipping it open to display the printed bank statements, the Swiss wire transfer receipts, and the corporate registry cross-references Naomi had compiled.

"Read page four, Luca," I said steadily. "That’s the two point five million dollar deposit transferred into Serena’s Swiss account four days before she moved into your house. And look at the secondary signatory on the corporate shell. Arthur Vance."

The room went dead silent.

Luca picked up the papers. His eyes scanned the financial figures, the routing numbers, and the corporate names. With every line he read, the color drained further from his face, replaced by a dark, murderous fury that made even his armed security guards take an involuntary step backward.

He slowly lowered the papers and turned his terrifying gaze toward Serena.

"You're working for Vance," Luca said, his voice dropping into a lethal, terrifying whisper.

"Luca, that's... that's a forged document!" Serena stammered, backing away toward the French doors as panic completely consumed her. "Isabelle manufactured those records to frame me! You know my medical history—!"

"Your medical license was revoked for falsifying evaluations for corporate extortion," Luca interrupted, his voice cutting through her lies like a razor blade. He turned his head slightly toward the hallway. "Marcus. Take her down to the waterfront warehouse. Don't let her out of your sight until federal marshals arrive to pick her up for corporate espionage and wire fraud."

"You can't do this to me!" Serena screamed as two guards grabbed her arms, dragging her kicking and screaming down the hallway. "You're making a massive mistake! You'll regret this!"

When the heavy front door slammed shut downstairs, the study fell into a profound, suffocating quiet.

Luca slowly turned back to face me. His hands were shaking slightly—not with fear, but with the terrifying realization of how close he had come to losing everything.

"Isabelle..." he began, his voice cracking. "I thought... the kids said..."

"We were forced to say it!"

Anthony and Michael stepped out from the adjoining sitting room, their eyes red-rimmed and filled with tears. Anthony rushed forward, throwing his arms around my waist, while Michael buried his face in my shoulder.

"She threatened us, Mom," Michael sobbed quietly. "Serena told us that if we didn't sign those statements and say we felt unsafe around you, she would make sure Dad sent us away to boarding school and had you arrested. She said you didn't want the new baby... she said you were leaving us."

Sophia walked over slowly, standing right in front of me. She reached down, gently touching my swollen stomach.

"I used the signal, Mom," Sophia whispered, looking up at me with absolute adoration. "I knew you’d come."

I wrapped my arms around all three of my children, pressing them close, feeling the fierce, unbreakable bond that no court order, no forged diagnosis, and no corporate enemy could ever shatter.

Luca stood a few feet away, watching us. He didn't try to close the distance immediately. He knew he didn't deserve to. He had let doubt poison his mind; he had allowed a monster into his home under the guise of an old flame.

He dropped slowly to one knee beside us, looking up into my eyes with a raw, broken vulnerability I had never seen in him before.

"I was a fool," Luca whispered, his voice thick with tears. "I let my guard down. I let them blind me. If you never forgive me... if you still want that divorce... I will sign the papers tonight. But please... don't take my children away."

I looked down at the man who had built an empire, realizing that true power had nothing to do with waterfront docks, armed guards, or millions of dollars in offshore accounts.

True power was love, loyalty, and a family that chose each other through every storm.
