Chapter 3 - The Siege Protocol**

With Audrey’s testimony backing up my digital logs, my operational strategy shifted into high gear. I didn't just want to kick Eleanor out of the house; I wanted to strip away every single layer of her public illusion, exposing her cruelty so completely that she would never be able to spin the narrative again. For years, my mother had used her online blog, her community volunteer network, and her social media pedestal to bully people under the guise of sweet grandmotherly advice. She was an absolute narcissist addicted to applause.

While Audrey boarded a direct afternoon flight from Seattle to Phoenix, I spent the next two hours systematically locking down our digital infrastructure. I accessed our home security mainframe, revoking all of Eleanor’s administrative access codes, locking her out of the smart-home hub, and ensuring that every single room in the house—except the bathroom—was now streaming high-definition audio and video directly to a secure cloud server managed by my corporate IT security team.

Next, I called Detective Marcus Vance—no relation, but a trusted old college friend who now headed the local precinct’s domestic intervention and elder/vulnerable adult protection unit.

“Marcus, I need an escort and a wellness check protocol initiated at my residence within the hour,” I stated calmly, reciting my home address. “My wife is a vulnerable recovery patient, post-hemorrhage. My mother is currently holding our newborn hostage, engaging in psychological abuse, physical intimidation, and denying medical access. I have live-feed video evidence.”

Marcus didn't hesitate. “I’m dispatching a unit right now, Julian. Meet us at the corner. We’ll secure the perimeter before you walk inside so she can’t destroy anything or claim you instigated the fight.”

By 11:30 AM, I was parked fifty feet down the street when two unmarked police cruisers pulled silently up to our curb, their lights off to avoid a scene. Marcus stepped out of the lead car, accompanied by a female officer specializing in family crises. I sprinted across the asphalt, pulling my laptop from my passenger seat to show them the downloaded clips of Eleanor forcing Clara to crawl through broken glass.

Marcus’s face darkened with absolute disgust as he handed the laptop back. “Jesus, Julian. This is textbook narcissistic abuse and endangerment. Let’s end this.”

As we marched up the front walkway, I used my master override app to remotely unlock the front door. The smart lock clicked open with a sharp, metallic snap.

Inside the house, the atmosphere was thick with tension. As we pushed through the foyer, we could hear Eleanor’s shrill voice echoing sharply from the kitchen.

“I told you to clean up every single shard before you even look at the bassinet, Clara! Stop crying; tears don't do chores!”

Marcus motioned for the officers to fan out, while I strode directly toward the kitchen archway, my heart hammering a rhythmic war drum against my ribs, ready to face the monster hiding behind my mother’s smiling face.
