Chapter 2 - The Framed Conspiracy and the Arrest Warrant**

The fallout inside the Cole penthouse was swift, brutal, and calculated. Within hours of the kitchen confrontation, Victoria had retreated to her family’s estate, mobilizing her father’s high-priced legal team and corrupt municipal contacts to neutralize the threat before Nathan could process what was happening.
Nathan had locked himself in his private study, demanding answers from Grace while trying to soothe little Lily, who was wrapped in a blanket on the sofa. Grace, nursing a badly bruised shoulder and speaking in a low, exhausted whisper, laid out the horrifying reality of what happened five years ago.
“Your father called me into his office the day I found out I was pregnant,” Grace explained, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. “He told me that if I didn't take a cash settlement and disappear out of state immediately, he would frame my brother for drug trafficking, ensure I spent decades in prison, and take my baby the second she was born. He said you were destined for Victoria, that our world didn't mix with the Coles.”
Nathan listened, his face turning an ash-gray color as the heavy burden of his family's toxic legacy crushed down upon him. “I never knew,” he whispered, his voice cracking. “I swear to God, Grace, I thought you just walked out because you fell out of love with me.”
“I loved you enough to run so you and my baby could survive,” Grace replied softly.
Before Nathan could answer, the security intercom on his desk buzzed insistently. Head of security Marcus stood at the front gates, sounding breathless and panicked.
“Mr. Cole! You need to get down to the lobby right now. The police are here. They have a warrant.”
“A warrant for whom?” Nathan demanded, standing up sharply.
“For Grace,” Marcus stammered. “They’re claiming she’s an unstable fugitive who abducted a child five years ago, and they have emergency court orders to seize the minor immediately.”
Nathan’s blood ran cold. It was a masterclass in corporate warfare and framing. Victoria and her father hadn't wasted a single second; they had weaponized the local precinct, submitting fabricated police affidavits, doctored medical records, and falsified custody claims to paint Grace as a deranged kidnapper attempting to flee the country with Lily.
When three uniformed officers accompanied by two social services agents burst into the penthouse suite thirty seconds later, Nathan stepped directly in front of them, his towering frame blocking their path to the sofa where Lily was hiding.
“You’re making a grave mistake,” Nathan warned, his voice dropping into the icy, authoritative register that had made him a feared corporate titan. “This is my home, and that is my daughter.”
“Mr. Cole, step aside,” the lead detective said coldly, flashing a paper signed by a corrupt family court judge. “We have a valid order of protective custody for the minor based on sworn testimony that the mother is a violent flight risk.”

Grace gasped, pulling Lily tightly into her arms as the social workers advanced. Desperation clawed at Nathan’s throat; he realized his multi-million-dollar wealth, his company shares, and his social standing wouldn't save them here. The entire judicial apparatus in the city was greased by Sterling-Cole money. To save his daughter and the woman he still loved, Nathan would have to publicly burn down his own family’s empire to the ground.
