Chapter 4 - The Fall of the House of Moretti**

Within twenty-four hours of the catastrophic wedding night, the social and corporate empire of the Moretti family had dissolved into radioactive dust.

Because Richard Vance had filed the emergency prenuptial enforcement papers concurrently with the criminal charges, every single corporate asset, joint bank account, and shared property tied to Luca’s name was instantly frozen by order of the superior court. The domestic-abuse clause executed precisely as written: Luca walked away from our brief marriage with zero claims to my premarital tech fortune, zero shares of my company, and a mountain of legal debt as he scrambled to hire high-priced criminal defense attorneys who quickly realized his case was utterly indefensible.

The local media picked up the story by Sunday morning. Video footage captured by wedding guests on their smartphones—showing Luca slamming my face into the cake, his arrogant laughter, and his subsequent arrest in handcuffs on the dance floor—went viral across national social media platforms within hours.

The backlash was swift and apocalyptic.

Luca’s primary corporate investors, horrified by the domestic violence charges and the leaked audio recordings of his threats, pulled their venture capital funding from his real estate firm by Monday afternoon. The board of directors voted unanimously to strip him of his executive title and ban him from company property indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Wendy’s high-society charity boards voted to revoke her memberships across the board, choosing to distance themselves entirely from the toxic scandal surrounding her family.

I spent Monday morning sitting comfortably in the sunlit home office of my premarital penthouse apartment, sipping a warm cup of coffee while reviewing the final legal dissolution documents with Richard.

“Well, Jessi,” Richard said with an approving smile, signing the final paperwork. “I’ve practiced family and corporate law for thirty years, and I have never seen a trap executed with such absolute precision.”

“I didn't want revenge, Richard,” I replied calmly, looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the skyline below. “I just wanted my freedom. And safety.”

“You have both,” Richard assured me, closing his briefcase. “And legally speaking, Luca won’t be able to contact you, approach you, or contest a single word of this agreement for the rest of his natural life. The restraining order is airtight.”

After Richard left, my phone buzzed continuously on the oak desk. Dozens of missed calls, frantic text messages, and tearful voicemails from Luca begging for forgiveness, claiming he was stressed, and pleading with me to drop the charges.

Without listening to a single second of his audio, I tapped Block Number across all platforms.

The chapter of my life defined by intimidation, fear, and walking on eggshells was officially closed. I had stared down a dangerous monster, refused to break under his psychological weight, and used his own arrogance to permanently neutralize him.

I stood up from my desk, walked over to the grand piano in the corner of the room, and played a quiet, joyful melody—the first time I had played without fear in two agonizing years.

The nightmare was over, and my real life was finally beginning.
