Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Coup**

Two weeks after leaving the hospital, I was back in my private penthouse apartment overlooking Lake Michigan, though I spent most of my time resting in a medical-grade recliner surrounded by legal ledgers and corporate filings. My recovery was slow, the scars across my abdomen aching with every deep breath, but my mind was sharper than ever.
The board of directors at Vance Global had received an anonymous corporate whistleblower package—compiled entirely by me—detailing Flynn’s unauthorized use of corporate funds to maintain Selina Cole’s lavish lifestyle. In the cutthroat corporate world of Chicago, financial impropriety was an unpardonable sin.
On a rainy Tuesday morning, the emergency shareholder meeting was called.
I didn't attend in person; I watched via a secure, encrypted live video feed piped directly into my study. On the screen, Flynn sat at the head of the polished mahogany board table, looking pale, exhausted, and desperately trying to maintain his composure as murmurs rippled through the room.
“Mr. Vance, these allegations from the auditing committee are severe,” spoke Richard Sterling, the senior independent board member. “Six million dollars diverted over twelve months to shell companies controlled by a private individual with no corporate affiliation? That is literal theft.”
“It was a temporary line of credit for strategic asset acquisition,” Flynn lied smoothly, though his voice shook slightly. “The board authorized broad executive discretion—”
“Not for personal real estate and luxury vehicles in Paris, Mr. Vance,” Arthur Vance interjected, stepping into the boardroom as my legal representative, holding a stack of certified bank documents. Furthermore, as of this morning, Mabel Vance—holding her proxy voting rights and her family’s foundational block of legacy shares—has motioned for an immediate vote of no confidence and a motion to strip you of your CEO title.”
The room erupted into absolute chaos.
Flynn slammed his hands onto the table, standing up so fast his chair crashed backward. “Mabel doesn't have the voting majority! Vance Global is my company!”
“Correction, Flynn,” a calm, synthesized voice echoed through the boardroom speakers as I unmuted my microphone.
Every head in the room turned toward the massive wall-mounted display where my face appeared in high definition. I looked pale, wrapped in a cashmere shawl, but my eyes burned with absolute, unyielding power.
“You founded Vance Global on a series of venture capital loans backed entirely by my father’s estate before he passed away,” I said, my voice carrying clearly across the silent room. “The legal agreements signed on our wedding day explicitly stated that in the event of gross corporate misconduct or marital dissolution resulting from criminal assault, the foundational shares revert entirely to my control.”
Flynn stared at the screen in pure horror. He had been so blinded by his obsession with Selina and his belief in his own untouchability that he had never actually read the fine print of the prenuptial agreement he had forced me to sign three years ago.
“You signed over the keys to your own execution the day you married me, Flynn,” I whispered. “And now, your reign is over.”

The vote was unanimous. Within twenty minutes, Flynn Vance was stripped of his title, his executive access, and his controlling stake in the empire he had built on betrayal.
