Chapter 3 - The Midnight Eviction Notice**

The crystal chandelier in the grand foyer cast a brilliant, glittering light over the imported marble floor as Helena descended the curved staircase, wrapped in a plush silk designer robe. She wore a self-satisfied smirk, expecting to find the house quiet, her husband docile, and the boy tucked away in the cold servants' quarters where she believed he belonged.

Instead, the ground floor was blazing with light.

Carmine stood near the front entrance, flanked not by his usual relaxed demeanor, but by Arthur, two corporate security specialists in dark suits, and Victoria Vance, the most feared divorce and asset-recovery attorney in the tri-state area.

Helena paused on the bottom step, her smirk faltering slightly as she took in the stark, formal atmosphere. “Good gracious, Carmine, what is this ridiculous midnight meeting? Did someone break into the wine cellar again?”

Carmine didn’t move. He didn’t smile. He simply watched her with eyes as cold as arctic ice.

“Come down here, Helena,” Carmine said, his voice echoing off the high ceilings.

Sensing something was deeply wrong, Helena drew herself up to her full height, adopting an offended, haughty expression as she stepped onto the marble floor. “Really, darling, your tone is entirely uncalled for. If this is about the boy, I was simply teaching him character. Children from wealthy families grow up spoiled if you don’t—”

“Save it,” Victoria interrupted sharply, stepping forward and opening a thick leather portfolio. She pulled out a stack of heavily stamped legal documents and held them out. “Helena Vance—formally Helena Sterling—you are hereby served with an immediate petition for the absolute dissolution of marriage, filed under grounds of severe psychological abuse, emotional endangerment, and breach of fiduciary trust.”

Helena scoffed, letting out a sharp, incredulous laugh. “Dissolution? Are you out of your mind? I have a signed prenuptial agreement! If Carmine divorces me, I walk away with twenty-five million dollars in liquid assets, half the Hamptons estate, and lifetime spousal support!”

“Not anymore,” a calm, steady voice rang out from the stairs behind her.

Helena spun around. Leo stood on the landing, wearing his clean pajamas, holding the small digital recorder in his hand. The red recording light blinked steadily in the dim light of the hallway stairs.

“Under Section 9 of the Pascale Family Legacy Trust,” Leo recited clearly, his voice carrying the exact cadence of his father when addressing a boardroom, “any spouse who inflicts intentional emotional distress, physical degradation, or forced labor upon the primary heir forfeits all rights to prenuptial settlements, financial distributions, and property claims effective immediately.”

Helena’s face drained of every drop of color. Her jaw went slack, and she staggered back a step, catching herself against the polished wooden banister. “That... that’s impossible! That’s a child’s prank! Carmine, you can’t believe this nonsense! He’s just a boy, he manipulated—”

“He recorded you every single day for three months, Helena,” Carmine cut her off, his voice dropping like a hammer. “Every threat. Every cruel word. Every time you forced him to clean your car while you laughed with your friends on the phone.”

Victoria stepped closer, sliding a final document across the low entry table. “Furthermore, our forensic accountants have audited your personal spending over the past year. It appears you have systematically funneled over eight hundred thousand dollars of corporate expense funds into offshore accounts registered under your brother’s name. That is federal wire fraud and grand larceny.”

Helena looked from Victoria to Carmine, realizing with sudden, terrifying clarity that the trap had snapped shut. There was no escape. There was no bailout. The gold-digger who thought she had conquered the Pascale empire had walked straight into a cage of her own making.
