Chapter 3 - The Billionaire's Collapse and the Mistress's Betrayal**

The silence in the grand salon was heavier than a physical blow.
Julian stopped thrashing. His face was pressed hard against the splintered wood of the gift table, right beside a crushed box of crystal wine glasses. His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and bulging with a mixture of sheer terror and incomprehension.
"What... what did he call you?" Julian choked out, his voice cracking as federal agents yanked him upright.
I didn't answer him immediately. I walked over to the mahogany bar, poured myself a fresh glass of sparkling water, and took a slow, refreshing sip. The cool liquid soothed my dry throat before I turned back to face the wreckage of my former life.
Arthur Vance was being led past me in handcuffs, his face the color of spoiled milk. He glared at me with eyes full of pure venom. "You bitch," he rasped, his voice trembling with impotent rage. "You ruined us. Decades of work—destroyed by a secretary's daughter."
"I was never just a secretary's daughter, Arthur," I replied smoothly, my voice ringing with cold authority. "I graduated at the top of my class with a master's degree in forensic accounting from Wharton. Your son was so blinded by his own arrogance and his obsession with finding a 'true heir' that he never bothered to look at my resume before marrying me. He thought he was marrying a quiet trophy. Instead, he married the auditor who built your company's entire compliance structure."
Julian’s knees buckled. If the agents hadn't been holding him by both arms, he would have collapsed onto the floor beside the ruined cupcakes.
"Clare..." Julian whimpered, all of his arrogant bluster vanishing into thin air. The powerful, untouchable heir of the Vance empire was suddenly crying like a frightened child. "Clare, please. You're my wife. We have a baby coming. You can't do this to me. Tell them it's a mistake! Tell them we can fix this!"
Chloe, realizing her meal ticket was evaporating before her eyes, instantly pivoted with absolute, vicious self-preservation. She threw her hands up, backing away from Julian as if he carried a contagious disease.
"I have nothing to do with him!" Chloe shrieked, pointing a manicured finger at Julian's face. "He lied to me! He told me his wife was crazy and they were already divorced! I'm just a victim here! Officer, look at me, I'm pregnant too! You can't arrest me!"
Julian stared at Chloe, his jaw dropping in utter betrayal. "Chloe? What are you talking about? You helped me plan this! You said you couldn't wait to spend my father's money!"
"Shut up, you lying loser!" Chloe screamed, lunging forward to claw at Julian's cheek before two female federal agents grabbed her arms and pinned her hands behind her back. "I never loved you! You're broke! Your family is going away for the rest of their lives!"
Beatrice broke down entirely, collapsing onto a velvet settee and sobbing hysterically into a designer handkerchief as agents began boxing up the family's laptop computers, financial records, and personal cell phones from the side tables.
Agent Reed stepped back to my side, holding a sleek black tablet. "Mrs. Vance, we have transport waiting outside. Given the stress of today's events, our medical team insists on escorting you to the hospital for a full checkup to ensure you and the baby are entirely unharmed."
I looked down at my stomach, placing both hands protectively over my child. The baby gave a reassuring, gentle kick against my palm, as if telling me everything was going to be alright.

"Thank you, Agent Reed," I said softly. "Let's go."
