Chapter 1 - The Rain and the Scared Crowd**

The cold autumn rain fell in sheets, slicking the asphalt outside the downtown pharmacy and turning the bustling sidewalk into a blur of frantic umbrellas and hurried footsteps. Right in front of the sliding glass doors, a scene unfolded that instantly brought traffic to a screeching halt. A terrifying figure dropped heavily to his knees in the pouring rain, ignoring the splashing water as he reached out to touch a homeless woman’s broken, waterlogged shoes. He was a mountain of a man, clad in a heavy leather vest bearing the insignia of a notorious road club, his arms covered in dark, intricate tattoos, and his knuckles marked with old, white scars. To anyone passing by, he looked like a predator closing in on easy prey.
Outside the pharmacy windows, onlookers saw the exact same alarming picture: a rough, intimidating biker towering over an elderly woman trembling helplessly on the concrete. A delivery worker standing nearby whipped out his phone and started recording, his thumb flying across the screen to capture what he assumed was a violent confrontation. Inside, the cashier slammed her hand onto the counter and reached frantically for the phone to dial emergency services. A police cruiser rounded the corner with its headlights slicing through the gloom, heading straight toward them.
Yet, the biker never once looked up at the gathering crowd or the flashing lights. His gaze was entirely fixed on the frail, shivering woman before him. “Stop filming her feet,” he growled over the roar of the traffic, his voice deep and commanding enough to make the delivery worker take an involuntary step backward. Without a hint of hesitation, the rough-looking man pulled a thick, dry microfiber towel from his saddlebag and carefully placed it beneath the woman’s shaking legs to insulate her from the freezing pavement.

The elderly woman flinched, gasping for breath, her cracked lips moving as she desperately begged him not to call an ambulance or send her to a hospital. She clutched her threadbare jacket tighter around her chest, terrified of the sterile lights and white coats of emergency care. The biker met her terrified eyes, his harsh expression softening in an instant. He spoke softly, his voice cutting through the storm, promising her only warm water and safety. Then, as he leaned in closer to shield her from the wind, the woman slowly raised one trembling, dirt-smudged hand toward an old, jagged scar running across his left jawline. She traced the familiar line with a shaking finger, opened her mouth, and whispered a single name that made the terrifying biker instantly stop breathing.
