With Adrian behind bars facing a minimum of fifteen years without parole for aggravated assault, domestic violence, and financial conspiracy, our divorce was finalized via summary judgment under uncontested fault provisions. The pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements Charles and Adrian had drafted were thrown out by the federal court as products of criminal coercion and fraud.

Not a single penny of my company stock, my personal savings, or my real estate holdings was touched. In fact, under court-ordered civil restitution judgments against the Holloway estate, a significant portion of their boutique vineyard holdings was liquidated to establish a trust fund for domestic abuse survivors and missing persons investigations—named The Jessica Vance Foundation.

I sat at my desk in the corporate executive suite, reviewing the final restructuring documents.

Marcus walked in, carrying a cup of coffee and placing a thick manila folder on my desk. “The transfer of the Holloway vineyard assets to the receiver’s office is officially complete. The family name is corporate poison now. No one will touch them.”

Marcus smiled, leaning against the edge of the desk. “By the way, Maya called this morning. Her divorce from Adrian was granted by default. She and the kids are moving into a beautiful home in Marin County. She started a new job as a graphic designer yesterday.”

A genuine smile touched my lips. “I’m so glad to hear that. We should invite her over for dinner soon.”
