Chapter 2 - The Midnight Eviction**

By 2:00 AM, the hospital room was quiet, save for the soft, steady breathing of my daughter sleeping peacefully in her clear plastic bassinet beside my bed. My physical pain was a dull ache now, eclipsed entirely by the roaring engine of my ambition and rage.
Khloe had been astonishingly fast. True to her reputation as the fiercest legal shark in New York, she had spent the last four hours executing phase one of our master plan while Julian slept soundly in our multimillion-dollar penthouse with his mistress.
My phone chimed softly with an encrypted email notification. I opened it to find a comprehensive, beautifully executed portfolio of emergency injunctions, asset freezes, and corporate restructuring documents.
Julian’s entire corporate empire—Vance Global Holdings—rested on a complex web of holding companies and offshore trusts. When we married, Julian had insisted on keeping his family assets protected, demanding an airtight prenuptial agreement. I had drafted it for him, playing the dutiful, naive wife. What Julian never bothered to read—and what his corporate counsel failed to catch—was the sovereign override clause embedded deep within Section 14, Paragraph C.
The clause explicitly stated that in the event of proven marital infidelity combined with an intentional breach of fiduciary trust regarding the family bloodline, the primary trustee held the absolute right to unilaterally freeze, reassign, and liquidate all corporate assets without prior notice or board approval.
I was the primary trustee. Julian was merely the operating CEO, an employee removable at will.
"You ready for phase two, Clare?" Khloe’s voice whispered through the phone speaker, cutting into the dim silence of the hospital room.
"Execute it," I replied coldly, my eyes fixed on the sleeping infant. "Lock down every single corporate account, freeze the personal credit cards, and slap a lien on the penthouse. I want him waking up to a world where his digital wallet tells him he's bankrupt."
"Done," Khloe whispered with dark satisfaction. "By 8:00 AM, Julian Vance won't even be able to buy a cup of coffee with his own name."

I hung up and closed my eyes, a ghost of a smile playing on my lips. Julian loved control. He loved money, power, and the illusion of absolute dominance. He had treated our marriage like a corporate merger and our child like a bad stock option. By tomorrow morning, he was about to learn what happens when you short-sell the architect of your entire fortune.
