Chapter 2 - The Queen’s Entrance

Two days later, the penthouse suite of the Grand Horizon Hotel overlooked the sprawling Seattle skyline like a gleaming fortress.
I sat in a velvet armchair, wrapped in a cashmere robe, sipping warm lemon water while a team of elite corporate attorneys, private security contractors, and personal physicians bustled around the room. My grandfather, Arthur Vance—a formidable man of seventy-five with piercing silver hair and eyes as sharp as cut glass—sat across from me, his expression a terrifying mix of grief for my lost decades and homicidal rage toward the man who had dared mistreat me.
"Nathan Caldwell," Arthur murmured, turning a thick dossier over in his weathered hands. "A mid-level tech CEO whose entire venture capital backing comes through a subsidiary of Vance Global. He thinks he owns the world because he maneuvered a naive twenty-year-old into signing a predatory prenuptial agreement."
"He thinks I'm homeless, Grandpa," I said, my voice steady, carrying an icy edge that surprised even myself. "He thinks my baby and I are starving on a park bench right now."
Arthur let out a low, humorless chuckle that didn't reach his eyes. "Oh, he's about to find out what financial ruin truly looks like. My legal team has already frozen all corporate credit lines associated with Caldwell Enterprises. By noon today, every single investor backing his firm will pull their capital. He will wake up to find his bank accounts empty, his assets seized, and his precious company liquidated to pay off our legal fees."
"Not yet," I interrupted softly, resting a hand over my swollen belly. "Don't destroy him all at once. Let him think he’s winning for just a little longer. Let him throw his grand, arrogant victory party this weekend to celebrate his corporate merger and our divorce finalization. I want to be there to watch the foundation crumble beneath his feet."

Arthur studied me for a long moment, then a slow, approving smile spread across his face. "My blood, through and through. You shall have your stage, Olivia. And when the curtain falls, they will remember the name Vance for the rest of their miserable lives."
We spent the next forty-eight hours executing a masterclass in corporate warfare. Shell companies were activated. Assets were quietly transferred. Nathan’s primary financial backers were bought out or legally dismantled, leaving him dangerously over-leveraged on a multi-million-dollar commercial real estate acquisition he had staked his entire reputation on. He was walking blindfolded toward the edge of a cliff, humming a happy tune with Lauren on his arm.
