I stood on the wide stone balcony, wearing a sharp white blazer, holding a cup of freshly brewed coffee as I looked out over the sparkling waters of the nearby lake. My grandmother’s inheritance portfolio hadn't just remained intact; under my careful management, it had grown by another twenty percent, cementing my position as one of the most respected independent asset managers in the state.
Amber and Indigo were currently serving concurrent prison sentences in a federal correctional facility several states away, their social standing completely shattered, forgotten by the very country club elite they had once desperately tried to impress. Bruno had taken a plea deal resulting in a five-year sentence with no parole eligibility for white-collar fraud and domestic assault.
Vanessa walked out onto the balcony, handing me an updated corporate audit report with a triumphant grin.
“The board vote went unanimously through this morning, Jade,” Vanessa announced, raising her coffee mug in a toast. “You are officially the majority stakeholder and CEO of the entire regional real estate portfolio formerly owned by the Callahans.”
