Chapter 4 - The Final Settlement

Bruno stared down at the document, his hands shaking so violently he could barely hold the pen provided by the bailiff.

“What... what is this?” he whispered, his voice trembling with horror as his eyes scanned the legal clauses.

“It’s your ticket to avoiding an additional twenty years in federal prison for forgery, wire fraud, and grand larceny,” I answered evenly, my voice like ice. “Read it carefully, Bruno. It outlines your complete and immediate surrender.”

According to the agreement, Bruno, Amber, and Indigo were required to sign over 100% of their ownership shares in Stanford & Callahan Enterprises to me as full restitution for the financial fraud and forged mortgages. The multi-million-dollar gated suburban mansion they loved to brag about? The deed was being formally transferred entirely into my name, clearing them out with zero equity, zero assets, and zero legal recourse. Furthermore, Bruno had to sign an immediate, uncontested divorce decree granting me sole possession of all my personal assets, with a permanent restraining order barring him, his parents, or anyone associated with them from ever coming within five hundred feet of me again.

“You’re taking everything,” Bruno choked out, tears spilling over his eyelashes. “Mom and Dad will be ruined. We’ll be homeless!”

“You should have thought about that before your mother wrapped her fingers around my hair and your father struck me across the face,” I replied sharply. “You made your bed, Bruno. Now lie in it. You have two minutes to sign, or I instruct Vanessa to let the district attorney proceed with the maximum federal indictments.”

He looked around the room, searching desperately for an escape route that no longer existed. Realizing that his parents couldn't save him and his lawyers had abandoned him, Bruno clutched the pen with trembling fingers and violently scribbled his signature across the dotted line.

Vanessa witnessed the signature, stamped the document with her official notary seal, and slipped it neatly back into her leather portfolio.

“Pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Callahan,” Vanessa said with a cold, professional smile. “Enjoy your stay in federal custody.”

As the guards pulled Bruno away, sobbing and cursing his parents' names, a profound sense of lightness settled deep into my chest. The ghosts of the past decade—the belittling comments, the constant financial manipulation, the physical brutality—evaporated into nothingness.
