Chapter 4 - The Plaza Gala**

The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel glittered under crystal chandeliers, filled with hundreds of tailored suits, expensive gowns, and the hollow, superficial laughter of Manhattan’s corporate elite.
I stood near the back of the mezzanine level, dressed in a breathtaking, backless emerald silk gown custom-fitted by Victoria’s stylist. My hair was swept up in a sophisticated chignon, and my posture was absolute perfection. I didn't look like a victim recovering from trauma; I looked like an empress reclaiming her throne.
Down on the main stage, Daniel stood behind the podium, glowing under the spotlight. He wore his finest tuxedo, smiling graciously as he accepted applause for his supposed corporate brilliance and his picture-perfect family life. Sitting in the front row, adorned in diamond pearls and expensive velvet, sat Margaret, beaming with arrogant pride, flanked by Jessica, who wore a plunging designer red dress, acting as if she were already the undisputed queen of Daniel's empire.
"As we look toward the future of Vance Global," Daniel spoke smoothly into the microphone, his voice echoing off the gilded walls, "we recognize that true success is built on a foundation of unwavering family values, loyalty, and integrity..."
I took a slow sip of my sparkling water, watching him weave his web of lies. He actually believed he had won. He believed that because I had left the hospital quietly, I was broken, defeated, and hiding in a corner.
At precisely 8:15 p.m., Victoria gave me a sharp nod from across the room.
Suddenly, the grand overhead screens flanking the stage—which were supposed to display Daniel’s corporate PowerPoint presentation—flickered violently. The corporate logo vanished, replaced instantly by a massive, high-definition digital document.
It was the offshore bank account statement from the Cayman Islands, clearly displaying Daniel’s legal signature alongside Jessica’s.
A collective gasp rippled through the hundreds of wealthy investors seated in the ballroom. Whispers erupted like wildfire.
Daniel froze mid-sentence, his smile shattering instantly. He stared up at the screen, his face draining of every drop of color.
Before he could stammer an excuse into the microphone, the screen transitioned again, displaying the chilling chat logs between Jessica and Margaret plotting my financial ruin, followed by the audio recording of Margaret instructing Daniel to push me down and get rid of the baby.
Margaret shrieked in horror from the front row, her hands flying to her face as heads turned in disgust. Jessica stood up abruptly, her chair scraping loudly against the parquet floor, attempting to bolt toward the side exit.
"Ladies and gentlemen," my clear, amplified voice rang out across the ballroom PA system, cutting through the chaotic uproar.
Every single head in the room whipped around to look up at the mezzanine. I stepped out from the shadows into the spotlight, holding a wireless microphone in my hand, my gaze locked directly onto the sweating, terrified figure of my husband on the stage.
"Thank you, Daniel, for speaking so eloquently about family values," I said, my tone dripping with icy sarcasm as I walked slowly down the grand staircase toward the main floor. "It’s fascinating to hear words like 'integrity' coming from a man who spent the last six months conspiring with his mistress and his mother to commit corporate fraud, forge infidelity documents, and shove his eight-month-pregnant wife to the floor to steal her inheritance."
Daniel staggered backward from the podium, his legs turning to jelly, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. "Emily... wait... this is a misunderstanding—"
The heavy mahogany doors at the main entrance of the ballroom burst open with a sharp crash. Two uniformed NYPD officers, accompanied by federal marshals and Victoria carrying a stack of signed arrest warrants, marched into the room with unyielding purpose.
