Chapter 3 - The Psychopathy of a Perfect Wife**

When I returned to the house that evening, the police had already departed, leaving me alone with a terrified four-year-old girl asleep in the guest room and a monster sitting at our kitchen island.

Emily sat quietly, staring down into a glass of ice water. The mask of the loving, devoted corporate wife was completely gone, replaced by a cold, vacant expression that made my stomach churn.

“How?” I asked, standing in the doorway of the kitchen, my voice trembling with suppressed rage. “How could you do this? You didn't just hide the truth after learning I had another child. You intercepted the legal case, answered in my name, drove her mother away, and then... what? You kidnapped my child and brought her into our home so you could play twisted house while I lived beside her without ever knowing?”

Emily slowly raised her eyes. There was no remorse in them—only a pathetic, warped sense of entitlement.

“You don't understand, Daniel,” Emily said, her voice eerily calm. “When I found those letters in your old college trunk three years ago, I realized you had a secret life before me. But when Rebecca filed that lawsuit, I knew if the courts got involved, our assets would be split, our social standing would be destroyed, and your bastard child would take everything we built.”

“So you had her killed?” I demanded, stepping forward.

“I didn't touch Rebecca,” Emily snapped, a flash of genuine anger crossing her face. “I met her at a diner downtown to buy her off. I offered her fifty thousand dollars to walk away and leave the state. She took the money, but then she threatened to go to the press anyway. She walked out of the diner to catch a cab, and... well, desperate people make mistakes. I didn't plan for her to vanish permanently. But when I found little Lily wandering near the bus station days later, looking for her mother, what was I supposed to do? Leave her to the state?”

“You locked her behind a wall in our study!” I shouted, slamming my hand against the marble counter so hard the water glasses rattled. “You turned our home into a prison camp! You watched me work fifty hours a week to pay our mortgage while my own flesh and blood was starving in a crawlspace ten feet away from my desk!”

“I kept her safe!” Emily shrieked, standing up abruptly. “I fed her, I clothed her, I taught her! She’s your blood, Daniel! I brought her to you! Aren't you thanking me for keeping your family intact instead of letting some trashy designer ruin our lives?!”

The sheer, staggering magnitude of her delusion hit me like a physical blow. She wasn't just a criminal; she was a psychotic narcissist who believed her crimes were acts of devotion.

I didn't yell anymore. I pulled my phone from my pocket, opened the voice recorder app, and played back every word she had just confessed.

Emily froze, staring at the glowing screen.

“This recording is already being mirrored to Detective Vance’s secure server,” I said coldly, turning toward the front hallway. “The police are on their way back to arrest you for kidnapping, fraud, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy. And as for our marriage? It died the moment you locked my daughter behind that wall.”
