Chapter 4 - The Ambush at the Luxury Hotel**

Two days later, while Wendy continued to regain her strength in a private hospital suite surrounded by floral arrangements and specialized care, I boarded a private corporate jet bound straight for Miami International Airport.
I wasn't traveling alone. Two federal marshals and Marcus Vance accompanied me, carrying certified court orders, asset seizure warrants, and digital copies of the security footage.
At 2:00 p.m., the heavy glass doors of the ultra-exclusive Grand Horizon Hotel in South Beach slid open. We walked through the opulent marble lobby, past startled bellhops and concierge staff, heading straight toward the private penthouse suites overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
My mother and sister were staying in the presidential suite—a four-thousand-dollar-per-night palace funded entirely by my son’s medical emergency funds.
I tapped the brass room service signal twice.
A few moments later, the heavy oak door swung open. Stephanie stood there wearing a silk designer bathrobe, a face mask drying on her cheeks, holding a fresh mimosa in her hand. Her smile vanished instantly, replaced by a look of sheer, unadulterated shock when she saw me standing in the hallway flanked by federal marshals and my attorney.
“Luca? What... what are you doing here?” Stephanie stammered, her glass shaking in her hand.
“Moving day, Steph,” I replied coldly, brushing past her into the sprawling suite.
Jessi emerged from the bedroom wearing oversized Gucci sunglasses and a silk resort kaftan, holding a platinum credit card. “Luca, darling! You’re back from Singapore early! Come look at the view, we ordered champagne—”
“Shut your mouth, Jessi,” Marcus Vance commanded, stepping forward and dropping a thick stack of federal court documents onto the glass coffee table.
Jessi blinked, her artificial smile faltering. “Who is this man? Why are you speaking to me like that? Stephanie, call hotel security—”
“Hotel security can’t help you here, Mother,” I said, walking slowly toward them, my voice dropping an octave. “You drained thirty-eight thousand dollars from my household account. You shut off the heat in the dead of winter. You threw out our food. You left my postpartum wife bleeding on the floor and my newborn son starving and hypothermic while you posted smiling selfies beside a Miami pool.”
Jessi’s face drained of all color, her jaw dropping. “We... we just wanted a little vacation! You make millions! Thirty-eight grand is nothing to you!”
“It wasn't your money to take,” I interrupted sharply. “And it wasn't just theft. It was reckless endangerment, elder abuse of a dependent household, and grand larceny.”
I pulled out my tablet, tapped the screen, and projected the high-definition security footage directly onto the suite’s massive smart television mounted on the wall.
The room filled with the clear, undeniable audio of my mother and sister conspiring to starve my wife, turning off the heat, and laughing about escaping to Miami. The visual evidence played in crisp 4K resolution, showing every smirk, every malicious gesture, and every deliberate act of cruelty.
Stephanie burst into hysterical tears, dropping her mimosa glass onto the plush carpet as it shattered into a hundred glittering pieces. “Mom! They have everything on camera! We’re ruined!”
“You’re not just ruined,” Marcus Vance added smoothly, sliding the asset seizure warrants forward. “Every bank account, debit card, investment portfolio, and personal vehicle belonging to both of you has been frozen by federal order. Your hotel bill here has been declined, your return flights have been canceled, and local law enforcement has been briefed on your felony charges.”
Jessi lunged forward, her hands clawing desperately at my jacket. “Luca! Please! I’m your mother! You can’t put me in prison over a family dispute! We were just teasing! We didn't mean for her to get hurt!”
I gently but firmly peeled her hands off my jacket, stepping back as if she were toxic waste.

“You made your choice the second you walked out on a newborn baby,” I said quietly. “Now enjoy the luxury.”
