Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Execution**

The corporate headquarters of Vance Global towered over downtown Chicago like a monolith of glass and steel, its sixty-five stories piercing the gray autumn sky. Yet inside the ultra-exclusive executive boardroom on the top floor, the atmosphere was thick enough to suffocate a shark.

Sebastian Vance sat at the head of the long conference table, flanked not by his usual legal advisors, but by two federal investigators and a team of forensic accountants from Langley-Holloway Global Ventures. Around the mahogany table sat twelve members of the Vance Global board of directors, including several senior executives who had long believed they could manipulate Sebastian through family alliances.

Among them was Arthur Vance, Sebastian’s paternal uncle and the executive vice president of international operations, who had quietly spent the past year attempting to position his own son as corporate successor while whispering behind Sebastian’s back about his “distraction” with a commoner wife.

“Sebastian,” Arthur began smoothly, adjusting his silk tie and leaning forward with a patronizing smirk. “We’ve all heard the rather... colorful rumors circulating about family drama at your estate. While we sympathize with domestic adjustments, Vance Global is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise. We cannot afford boardroom distractions or public scandals—especially with the impending acquisition closing this Friday. Perhaps it’s time you took a mandatory personal leave of absence to ‘sort out your household,’ and let the board handle the final contract execution—”

Sebastian didn't move a muscle. He didn't blink. He simply reached out, tapped the glass surface of his tablet, and pushed a master control button.

Instantly, the massive, wall-mounted LED display behind Arthur flickered to life.

Instead of quarterly revenue projections or merger metrics, the screen flashed a bold, crimson header: INTERNAL AUDIT & FORENSIC COMPLIANCE REPORT: VANCE FAMILY TRUST & SUBSIDIARY SHELL ACCOUNTS.

Below the header, columns of financial transactions scrolled by at a dizzying speed, detailing massive capital outflows, unauthorized real estate purchases in the Bahamas, and fraudulent corporate expense claims funneled directly through dummy accounts.

Arthur’s smug smirk vanished instantly, the color draining from his face until he looked like a corpse. “What... what is this?” he stammered, his voice cracking slightly. “Sebastian, this is completely out of order—you can’t just project private family accounts onto a board screen—”

“That isn't a family account, Uncle Arthur,” Sebastian said, his voice cutting through the silent room like a razor blade. “That is a comprehensive forensic audit proving that over the past four years, you and my mother have systematically embezzled over fourteen million dollars from the Vance Global philanthropic foundation and subsidiary logistics accounts to fund your private real estate portfolio and high-society gambling debts.”

Panic erupted around the table. Several board members gasped, whispering frantically among themselves while casting terrified glances at Arthur, who was now sweating profusely, his hands trembling as he tried to gather his paperwork.

“It’s a lie!” Arthur shouted, half-rising from his chair, his face turning a violent shade of purple. “Fabricated data! You’re unhinged, Sebastian! You’re letting a gold-digging whore cloud your judgment, and now you’re trying to destroy your own family over a domestic squabble!”

Before Arthur could finish his sentence, the heavy boardroom doors swung open with a sharp click. Two federal agents in crisp dark suits stepped into the room, flanked by private security. One of them flashed an official badge and stepped directly behind Arthur’s chair.

“Arthur Vance,” the federal agent stated coldly, pulling a set of heavy steel handcuffs from his belt. “You are under arrest for corporate wire fraud, embezzlement, tax evasion, and conspiracy to commit financial fraud. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

“No! You can’t do this! Sebastian, I’m your blood!” Arthur screamed, thrashing wildly as the federal agents hauled him out of his chair, snapping the cuffs onto his wrists and dragging him toward the elevators while his expensive designer shoes squeaked against the polished floorboards.

The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind him, leaving an absolute, tomb-like silence in the boardroom. The remaining eleven directors sat completely paralyzed, staring straight ahead, too terrified to even breathe too loudly.

Sebastian stood up slowly, leaning his knuckles against the table and sweeping his cold, calculating gaze across the terrified faces of the men and women who had spent years plotting behind his back.

“Let this be exceptionally clear to everyone sitting in this room,” Sebastian said, his voice echoing with lethal quietness. “Vance Global is not a family playground. It is my empire. The moment anyone mistakes my loyalty for weakness, or targets my wife and my unborn child... I will not just strip you of your titles. I will dismantle everything you’ve ever built.”

He picked up his leather portfolio, buttoned his suit jacket, and walked out of the boardroom without looking back once. The corporate coup was over before it even began.
