Chapter 3 - Midnight Chaos in the Lobby**

At 3:15 AM, a barrage of loud, frantic shouting echoed down the twelfth-floor hallway, pulling me instantly out of a deep sleep.
I slipped on a silk robe, walked quietly to the door, and peered through the peephole. Security guards were trying to calm down a furious, disheveled man standing in the corridor.
It was Mark.
He was wearing his tailored trousers from earlier, but his shirt was entirely unbuttoned, his tie was missing, and his hair stood up in wild tufts. Stumbling closely behind him was Britney, desperately clutching a hotel bathrobe closed around her throat, her high heels clicking unevenly against the carpet as she tried to stay out of sight of passing guests.
Through the muffled soundproofing of the door, I could hear fragments of Mark’s enraged shouting directed at the head of hotel security.
“What do you mean my key card is invalid?! Do you know who I am? I am the CEO of Dalton Systems! I am staying in the Presidential Suite!” Mark bellowed, his face bright red with panic and sleep deprivation.
The security manager remained impeccably polite, speaking with the calm, immovable authority of someone who dealt with entitled billionaires every single day. “I apologize, Mr. Vance, but your corporate hospitality account has been abruptly frozen by the primary guarantor. Furthermore, the master access code for the Presidential Suite was revoked at midnight under an emergency corporate injunction. You and your guest are no longer authorized to occupy that floor.”
“That’s impossible!” Britney shrieked from behind him, her voice cracking with unmasked hysteria. “We have meetings with international investors tomorrow morning! You can't just throw us out!”
“Ma'am, you have ten minutes to retrieve your personal belongings from the suite under staff supervision, or your items will be placed in storage,” the manager replied coldly.
Mark yanked out his phone, his hands shaking so violently he dropped it twice against the marble floor. He dialed frantically, trying to call me, but my phone was safely turned off in airplane mode inside my suite. In desperation, he tried calling Claire Vance directly, only to be met with an automated legal voicemail informing him that the firm’s offices were closed.

Through the peephole, I watched the mighty tech CEO—the man who had casually dismissed his pregnant wife as a useless housewife—collapse against the hallway wall, his chest heaving as the terrifying realization began to dawn on him. Losing the luxury suite wasn't the catastrophe. The terrifying reality was that someone with supreme legal authority had just dismantled his access to the very infrastructure holding up his empire. And the only person in the world who held that kind of power was me.
