Chapter 4 - The Legal Eviction and Federal Subpoenas**

Before Rowan could move toward the door, it swung open smoothly, revealing Marcus Vance, senior litigation partner for Sterling Global Enterprises, accompanied by two local sheriff deputies wearing crisp uniforms and carrying heavy leather briefcases. Marcus stepped into the foyer with the precise, intimidating posture of a man who routinely dismantled multi-billion-dollar corporate conspiracies before breakfast. He walked straight past my frozen husband, offering me a polite, professional nod before placing a thick, stamped legal portfolio squarely on top of the financial documents on the coffee table. “Rowan Cole?” Marcus asked, his voice crisp and official. “My name is Marcus Vance. I represent Phoebe Sterling-Bennett and the Sterling family estate.” Rowan flinched violently at my full maiden name, finally connecting the dots of my true background. “You’re being formally served with emergency civil injunctions, asset-freeze notices, and a federal subpoena for systemic wire fraud, identity falsification, and the illegal diversion of marital and trust assets totaling over 1.2 million dollars,” Marcus continued, flipping open the portfolio to reveal a mountain of certified bank statements, forged authorization signatures, and wire routing numbers linked directly to Selina’s personal accounts. “You can’t do this!” Rowan screamed, lunging forward as panic completely overwhelmed his senses. “That money was partly mine! I have rights to our accounts! You’re railroading me!” The two sheriff deputies immediately stepped forward, placing firm, unyielding hands on either side of his shoulders to hold him back before he could make a reckless move. “You have zero rights to assets acquired through fraudulent concealment and the exploitation of a spouse during medical incapacitation, Mr. Cole,” Marcus stated flatly, handing him a yellow copy of the injunction. “Furthermore, your mother Selina has already been served with identical criminal indictments at her residence this morning. Any attempt to contact my client, liquidate remaining properties, or tamper with evidence will result in immediate felony arrest and zero-bail incarceration.” Rowan slumped forward against the console table, his knees buckling beneath him as the full, devastating reality of his life’s total collapse crashed down upon his shoulders. He had wanted luxury, he had wanted his mother’s perpetual approval, and he had wanted to keep me under his thumb—and in his blind greed, he had lost absolutely everything in a single afternoon.
