Chapter 4 - The Courtroom Showdown**

Two months later, the corporate warfare had escalated from frantic phone calls to federal district court.

Hart Logistics, desperate and bleeding millions of dollars a day after losing their primary supply chain infrastructure, slapped Vance Supply Solutions with a massive multi-million-dollar lawsuit, claiming tortious interference, breach of commercial trust, and fraudulent contract manipulation. They brought in a high-priced legal team from a bulldog firm in Washington, D.C., led by a notorious corporate litigator named Thomas Sterling.

The courtroom was packed to capacity. Reporters, financial analysts, and curious onlookers filled the oak benches of the federal courthouse downtown.

I sat at the plaintiff's table alongside Marcus, wearing a sharp, tailored charcoal pantsuit that projected absolute authority. Across the aisle sat Jackson, his father Robert, and their legal team. Jackson looked hollowed out—dark circles bruised beneath his eyes, his expensive suit hanging slightly loose on a frame that had lost weight from weeks of relentless stress. Sophia Bennett was nowhere to be found; Hart Logistics had quietly terminated her employment six weeks prior to distance themselves from the scandal.

Presiding over the case was Judge Arthur Vance—a legendary jurist known across the federal circuit for his razor-sharp intellect, absolute intolerance for corporate bullying, and a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent contract riders.

"We are here for the preliminary injunction hearing in the matter of Hart Logistics versus Vance Supply Solutions," Judge Arthur announced, adjusting his half-moon spectacles as he scanned the towering stacks of legal briefs.

Thomas Sterling stood up, buttoning his suit jacket with theatrical flair. He launched into a impassioned, melodramatic speech about corporate betrayal, claiming that Vance Supply had acted in bad faith to sabotage a long-standing commercial partnership out of "petty, personal romantic grievances."

"Your Honor," Sterling declared dramatically, pointing a finger in my direction. "Miss Vance used her personal relationship with executive Jackson Hart to secure proprietary insights into Hart Logistics, only to ruthlessly cut ties overnight because of a private domestic dispute. It is corporate sabotage disguised as a breakup!"

When Sterling finally sat down with a self-satisfied smirk, Judge Arthur turned his piercing gaze toward our legal table.

"Miss Vance," the judge said calmly. "How do you respond to the plaintiff's assertion that this termination was executed in bad faith due to personal animus?"

I stood up smoothly, buttoning my blazer, and walked to the podium. I didn't raise my voice; I didn't need to. The facts spoke with deafening volume.

"Your Honor, Vance Supply Solutions did not terminate our partnership out of personal animus. We terminated it because Hart Logistics engaged in systematic, clandestine corporate fraud," I stated clearly, projecting my voice across the courtroom.

Marcus immediately opened our digital evidence display on the courtroom monitors, projecting high-resolution financial audits, encrypted internal emails from Jackson Hart, and fraudulent asset-transfer riders.

"Six months prior to the signing of the Meridian Health contract, executive Jackson Hart and CEO Robert Hart systematically conspired to bypass corporate compliance protocols, embedding unauthorized joint-venture riders into personal asset disclosures intended to illegally siphon Vance Supply’s proprietary logistics network into Hart Logistics without shareholder consent," I explained, clicking through the evidence slide by slide. "Furthermore, we have documented proof that Hart Logistics utilized company resources to fund personal gifts—including custom diamond jewelry—for unauthorized third parties, violating federal corporate governance standards."

Jackson went completely pale in the gallery, burying his face in his hands as Robert Hart hissed furiously at his legal team.

Judge Arthur leaned over his bench, studying the projected financial records with intense scrutiny. He flipped through Jackson’s encrypted emails, where my ex-fiancé had explicitly bragged to Sophia about how easily they were going to "absorb Elena's company once the wedding ring was on her finger."

The courtroom was so quiet you could hear the hum of the overhead lights.

Finally, Judge Arthur looked up, his expression like granite.
