Chapter 4 - Stripping the Crown**

Panic exploded across Vincent’s face, destroying the carefully crafted mask of stoic dominance he had worn for decades. He lunged across the table toward Claire, his hands outstretched in desperation.

"Claire, wait—listen to me!" Vincent pleaded, his voice cracking, shedding every ounce of his syndicate boss persona. "The kiss on television—it meant nothing! Elena meant nothing to me! It was a publicity stunt, a stupid mistake! We're married, Claire! We're building a family!"

Before Vincent could touch her, the two armed federal marshals stepped forward instantly, grabbing his arms and forcing him back down into his executive leather chair with brutal efficiency.

"Don't you ever touch me again," Claire said, her voice trembling slightly with suppressed rage as she stepped back, placing her hand protectively over her stomach. "And don't you ever speak to me about family."

"You can't do this!" Vincent roared, struggling uselessly against the marshals' grip, sweat beading on his forehead. "You're freezing my assets! You're locking me out of the accounts! What about the North Harbor terminal? What about the syndicate contracts? I'll lose everything!"

"You already have," Arthur Vance answered coldly, sliding a final sheet of paper across the table. "Furthermore, forensic audits conducted over the past forty-eight hours have uncovered massive corporate embezzlement, tax evasion, and illegal funneling of subsidiary funds into private offshore accounts controlled by Ms. Ward."

Elena gasped, her eyes widening in sheer terror as she looked from Arthur to Vincent. "You bastard! You used my name on the shell accounts?!"

"Shut up, you idiot!" Vincent snarled at her, losing his temper completely.

Arthur adjusted his glasses. "Federal indictments have already been filed, Mr. Moretti. You and Ms. Ward are facing federal wire fraud, racketeering, and corporate conspiracy charges. Your assets are seized, your bail will be denied as a severe flight risk, and your empire is officially liquidated."

Vincent slumped forward, his head resting against the cold mahogany table as the crushing weight of total defeat settled over him. All the money, all the power, all the intimidation he had lorded over others had vanished in less than ten minutes because he had underestimated the quiet woman standing before him.

Claire looked down at him for a long, silent moment. There was no triumph in her heart—only a profound sense of closure and liberation.

"When I came to Harbor Point yesterday," Claire said softly, leaning down so only he could hear, "I had an envelope in my bag. An ultrasound photograph. I came to tell you that you were going to be a father."

Vincent’s head snapped up, his bloodshot eyes staring at her in agonizing realization. "Claire... please... our child..."

"Our child will bear the Bennett name," Claire interrupted firmly, standing straight and pulling her ivory blazer tight. "And he will grow up knowing that strength isn't about screaming the loudest in a room, but about holding all the cards and knowing exactly when to play them."

She turned on her heel, her designer heels clicking rhythmically against the marble floor as she walked out of the boardroom, leaving Vincent handcuffed to his own chair while the federal marshals prepared to drag him away.
